So I had my dr. appt. this morning and I'm starting to question the care. I went to a special place for the level II ultrasound and the tech told me to come back at 24 weeks for a growth scan. The doctor I saw today said to cancel that appt. and that I could go to their ultrasound place from now on because the babies looked good and my next ultrasound was going to be at 28 weeks. Am I just parinoid or is that rediculous!!?? That would be eight weeks without an ultrasound with mono/di twins. He finaly changed it to keep that appt. and then we'll start you at 28 weeks for monthly ultrasounds at our place. I'm so afraid of something going wrong after having two miscarriages before. O and they didn't check the cervix length at my ultrasound like I thought (I read over the results) I was going to ask the doctor but he changed the subject and I forgot. DH is military and I can't change doctors so I'm stuck with these people. Should I be concerned about the care I'm getting? Or am I just worrying to much? After seeing the problems people on here have came accross I really don't want to be under monitered and something go wrong. Then I will feel like it was my fault because I didn't say anything but I don't think they will change their policies even if I say something. What do you guys think?

Sorry about your appointment today. but I woudl say KEEP that u/s at 24 weeks and 28 weeks.
My OB said that they will check the cervix at 20 weeks level 2 u/s
about the timing. I will have to see the peri after 20 weeks u/s evrey 3 week this is what I was told will know for sure on Monday.

What type of twins are you having? My sister had fraternal twins, and she was seen for her level 2 at 20 weeks, and everything looked great, so I dont think she ever went back to the peri, she had her next US at the OBs at 28 weeks I beleive (she visited with regular appointments in between). Then after 32 weeks, she was monitored more (US) to watch the amniotic fluid, and she ended up delivering at 37 weeks I believe.

With me, I have mono-di twins, and I will be monitored at 18 weeks at peri again, and if everything looks ok, they will monitor me every 3-4 weeks with US. So it depends on your situation I think. I too was concerned about going from 10 weeks - 18 weeks without an ultrasound! But I trust these doctors, they know what they are doing!

I would agree, keep that appointment if you want, what can it hurt? And I too forget my questions, maybe write them down, so you dont forget next time, or you can always call the doctor, and ask!

Best of luck to you. Sounds like everything is going well! :)

After 20 weeks you should have an US every 4 weeks. Keep the appointment. Ask the specialist to measure your cervix next time your are there.

I had a US every four weeks since 16 weeks, after 24 weeks I had them every week for 2 weeks to check cervical length because my cervix had shortened drastically and I was in the hospital. Since 28 weeks (last week) I have to have them every 2 weeks now to check growth and cervical length. I don't think that this is normally what my doctors do but I've been on hospital bed rest since 24 weeks. I've never been to see a peri, but when I was admitted into the hospital one came to see me my first day here, he just talked about development of the babies at 24 weeks and into 28 weeks, but I haven't seen one since.

I think they want to watch out for your cervix more than anything. I would "fight" or stay assertive about keeping up with your US appointments since you want to make sure everything is going great! Congratulations on not having any complications!

I don't know if it would help to ease your mind or not, but look up the things to look out that are exterior signs of TTTS. eg if your belly seems to swell up. Sorry, I'm not an expert. Other moms might have more of an idea.
I think 3 weeks is more the norm for how often mono/di twins should be checked. I am sure at your 24 week scan if anything looks even slightly suspicious they will bump up the regularity.
Otherwise, develop some phantom worries if you can't stand the wait, eg you haven't felt the babies move much all day or something to ensure they at least do a CTG (NST) so you can get some reassurance.
Hope everything goes well, sorry I can't be more helpful about how often things should happen but mine have issues (picked up at 20 weeks) so I have way too many appts.

im having mono/di twins and have been monitored every 2 weeks with an u/s in case of TTTS or IGUR. In fact, i fired my ob yesterday for not keeping up on the care like he was supposed to, and will only see the peri from now on.

I've had growth u/s every 4 weeks since about 10 weeks. My OB sees me every 2 weeks, but I've had some bleeding earlier and was on bedrest. My OB checks my cervix every time.

My OB had me see MFM for u/s every 4 weeks (minimum) starting at 20 weeks. They had me come in one time for a 2 week f/u because of concerns. Now I'm starting weekly biophysicals next week. I'm having mono/di twins too.
I would definitely keep the 24 week appt and ask why they wanted you to switch to their practice for the u/s? Do they have better specialists to interpret??

I would definitely not go 8 weeks without an u/s, especially with mono/di. I get one every appt (about every 4 weeks so far) even if its just a quick one and its definitely reassuring for me.
