    Hi all,

On another topic, there was a brief discussion of babies doubling their birth weight by six months. Just for fun, I decided to calculate how long it took my girls to double their weights.

My girls were only 3lbs11oz and 4lbs9oz when they were born so it was much easier for them to double and triple in size than a 7 pounder, but even so... oh my goodness... my girls should have stretch marks they grew so fast!!

My larger girl doubled her birth weight by 2.5 months, tripled it by 5.5 months and hit the quadruple mark at 10 months! My smaller girl doubled her birth weight by 2 months, tripled it by 4, quadrupled by 6.5 months and was FIVE TIMES her birth weight at 10 months!

Just in case that math makes you wonder if they're already the size of kindergartners... not quite... they were 18.75 and 19.25 pounds this morning.

What about the rest of you? Have you ever done the math on how quickly your twins grew? It's kind of fun... so please share with us!

    Hmmm...not a math person...but here goes:

Nicholas was 6lbs13oz at birth. At 1 mth he was 9lbs, 2mths he was 11.8, and 4mths he was 13.12
Anthony was 6lbs3oz at birth. At 1 mth he was 7.9, 2mths he was 10.4 and 4mths he was 13 even.

So-not sure of the percentages but they have doubled their weight before 6 months!

    Jake was 3lbs 11ozs at birth, 9lbs at 4 months, 13lbs at 6 months!
    Ryan was 3lbs 3ozs at birth, 10lbs at 4 months, 15lbs at 6 months!
(Give or take a few ounces on the 4 and 6 months)

For length, they are finally on the "normal" kid chart! Goodbye preemie stats!

Wow - Meg, that means that at 6 months, Jake is 4.5 times bigger and Ryan is 4.7 times bigger than they were at birth. Your boys are growing even faster than my girls!

Elizabeth doubled at 2 months and Thomas not much later.

By 6 months they had tripled and as of yesterday Elizabeth had almost quadrupled.

When they have their 9 month appointment in April. Elizabeth will have quadrupled and Thomas will likely be close.

Crazy when you consider they were 5-2 and 6-6 at birth.

Also Elizabeth was 16.75 inches at birth and is now 28, She has almost grown an entire foot. Thomas was 17.5 and is now 30 so he did grow a whole foot plus.

    Yeah for growing babies!

Not sure on the percentage either but they doubled their weight by two months.
Brycen at birth was 7lbs, at one month 11lbs 5oz, two months 15lbs 5oz, and today is 18lbs!
    and
Bryan at birth was 6lbs 5oz, at one month 10lbs 5oz, two months 13lbs, and today is 17lbs!
I think they are gaining weight much too fast.

My son was 5lb 8oz when he was born, he is 4.5mths old and now weighs 15lbs 6 oz.
My DD was 5lbs 3oz born and she is now 13lbs 8oz.
They are both average in height and she is average in weight. He is a bit above average. lol.

My 6 month old is 18 lbs and some few ounces (don't know how many for sure)... so she has definitely doubled in size.

You just made me feel so much better about the weight my little ones have gained!!

Presley at birth was 7 lbs 1 oz and is now almost 14 lbs.
Cash at birth was 7 lbs 2 oz and is now almost 15 lbs.

And they are a week shy of 3 months.

We just have big babies mama! :)

This made me feel better too! I've actually stopped saying "but they were born 7 weeks early" to strangers b/c they don't seem to flinch when I tell them how old the boys are. Glad my chunky monkeys are holding their own!

At birth my son was 6lbs, at 2mos he is 12.1lbs. . . doubled by 2mos!!!
My daughter was 4-14 at birth and is over 9lbs. . . almost doubled :) - but she still LOOKS so small!

I've got some chunky monkeys, too -- I don't remember when they doubled, exactly -- but DD was born 4 pounds 10 ounces, and now she's almost 21 pounds. And DS was 5 pounds 9 ounces, and is now almost 19 pounds. At 9 months!

Seems crazy to me, because my older DD was 6 pounds 15 ounces at birth, and she was 19 pounds at a year....

Indira was 5lb 4oz when born, 2 months 9lbs, 4 months 12lbs and the 6th month checkup is April 9th so I am going to guess and say at least 15lbs
Arjuns was 5lb 8oz when born, 2 months 10lbs, 4 months 14lbs and again going to guess and say he is at least 16-17lbs maybe more...he is my BIG eater.

I guess my two are the only ones so far that fell within the "minimum" requirement of doubling by 6 months and tripling by 12.

    Jonas
    birth 5lbs 14 oz 19 1/4inches
    6m 12lbs 4oz
    9m 15lbs 7oz
    12m 18lbs 28in

    Lucas
    birth 5lbs 14 oz 19 1/2 inches
    6m 11lbs 12 oz
    9m 14lbs 14oz
    12m 17lbs 8oz 27 3/4inches
