We're looking into buying a double carrier (like a baby bjourn) made for twins? I have no idea if that would be practical or not. Does anyone have one? If so, what has been your experience with it?

We had single carriers that we really only used a few times. DH would take one baby and I would take the other and from my experience with them after a while of carrying one baby they got really heavy.

To be honest I have never even seen a double carrier. Hopefully other will have better info for you.

I actually have a MaxiMom (twin carrier), my sister picked it up at a tag sale. I never ever used it, couldn't figure it out  when I needed it. Even with the accompanying video tape.

DH and I did use two Baby Bjorns though. Pretty frequently. Sometimes just so we could eat.

Nope, but I cannot even imagine using one. My kids were so heavy once they could hold their heads up that I would have avoided a contraption like that.

My friend with twins had two Maya slings and criss crossed them on her body, allowing her to carry her twins that way. Again...too heavy for me!

I had thought about buying one while I was pregnant, but never did. I am glad that I did not because I can not imagine carrying both babies on me. I prefered to use a double stroller, when they were newborn I put hem both in a single stroller(pram style).
I live in Hawaii so it is hot all the time, baby wearing makes me extra hot!!

I got my sister a double carrier for her twins (maxi mom, I think) and she never used it. It came with an instructional video and she never got around to figuring it out. She used 2 baby bjorns instead that worked just fine for her... Good luck!

I use two maya ring slings in a few different carries. When they were really young, I put them in one. Now I use a moby and a ring sling. I can post pics if you want to see!

Erykah, that would be awesome if you could post some pics. I think the moms here are always thinking about how they are going to get around with two. And I am such a visual person, I know that it would have really helped to SEE it first!

I agree. I would have loved to have seen pictures like that when I was pregnant with my two.

I never had any carriers. I had thought about getting the maximom, that sara b gave a link too, and when I went to order it, it was out of stock and would have taken like 8 weeks, so then figured it wasn't worth it. Looking back I probably wouldn't have used it too often.
