My girls are 4 and I'm thinking of getting a dollhouse. Any suggestions on types you loved and were worth the money. How long do they play with them. Did you get them each their own?? or shared?? thanks

I can't answer the sharing question, since my daughter is a singleton, but my twins do share a lot of stuff like that. (batman cave, police station) If your girls like Dora, I do have to say that the furniture that is made for the Dora house is excellent. It holds up and is almost unbreakable. The "old" Dora house is on clearance now, since they have the new one. If you have a Big Lots near you, they are selling it and a lot of the accesories pretty cheap.

If you don't want to go the Dora route, my daughter loves her Loving Family dollhouse. I found an old one at a thrift store (the original one) and she plays with it a lot. Here is a link:

I think the FP loving family one is really cute.
I would think that they could share one.
You can go crazy getting the furniture for each room...just thinking about setting up two
is a bit daunting. They would so get the furniture and stuff all mixed up.

We were given the Little Tikes Grand Mansion from a little girl who out grew it. I think you can check it out on eBay. But the pieces were older. So I decided to get the FP Loving Family pieces and they work perfectly. My girls love it. It's a special treat. I keep the pieces up out of the way and only get them down every couple weeks. But when I do, they play with it all day long. I love the FP Loving Family pieces, but eBay is crazy priced for them. I have bought them from Target, Walmart and Kmart.

I also liked the Fisher price doll houses. We had the Twin time one and it has held up well. But since it is plastic afterall it is starting to wear out some now. We are getting Abby a brand new doll house that is made of wood. I wish we would have just gotten the wooden one first. So my recommendation is if they play rough at all to go with a wood doll house.

Hey I had that Fisher Price doll house circa 1983. I even have a picture of me opening it.

we have the loving Family. they got it when they were 3 and have loved it ever since! It has held up well. I have a wooden one for them but with that comes the more expensive wooden furniture which I am waiting until they are older. They like to currently still use the doll house furniture with their trains and other toys so it ends up all over the house (more than I would like) I found a women who traded me the twin babies from the twin time doll house. I thought the non-twin doll house was a bit bigger and more condusive to more than one child/toddler playing at the same time!

This is what we have and the girls love it. We found ours in excellent condition at a yard sale for like $8. We're getting the loving family dolls to go inside of it.
