    Hi,
I've been wanting to get the girls a doll. We want one appropriate for a 2 year old and the primary characteristic is that it has different outfits it can change into. They have a little one but it is too hard to dress. We even have a toy stroller and shopping cart but we just haven't bought any dolls for them.

After Tivvy and Jas put on a diaper on their Pooh bear we thought maybe we should get a real doll for them! :D

    Thanks!

My DD (now 13) really enjoyed her Bitty Baby from American Girl Dolls They even have "Bitty Twins" that are super cute. You can get all kinds of outfits for the dolls and even matching ones for the girls.

Hannah has the Bitty Twins, they are really cute, but on the expensive side.

How about a Cabbage Patch Kid? They're affordable and the clothes are really easy to change.

The girls just got these little hard plastic dolls for Easter the come with snap on clothes. They really enjoy them. Snap N Style Dolls @ Amazon

If you go to www.fisherprice.com and search Snap 'n Style, you'll see that have several dolls to choose from (different skin colors, hair colors, etc) and several "outfits" to accessorize (sp?) with them. I would not buy them from Amazon though. Their prices seem REALLY high on these.

This might not be the type of doll you were looking for but I thought I'd throw it out there as a very age appropriate and cute alternative.

My girls, now 33 months, have lots of dolls.

They love to change the clothes on the inexpensive baby dolls (definitely not the Fisher Price ones (yuck) but Baby Born I think - I found them at Walmart and they are really nice) and Cabbage Patch dolls.

I'm getting them the awesome American Girl baby dolls when they are 3-1/2 (Christmas) or 4.

We have twins from Little Mommy, which I believe is Fisher Price. The clothes are easy to get on and off, they are easy to wash--which is a big plus, they have soft bodies which is good. And they come with fun taking care of baby accessories. My girls take them everywhere.

Wow, that's a really strong sentiment about a baby doll! What is so "yuck" about them??

These dolls are nice but not everyone can shell out $100 for a doll and one outfit to go with them (times two), kwim? I bought our friends' daughter one of these several years ago - took her to the AG store in Chicago to pick it out. If you live close, it might be something you want to make a day out of if you want to get them these dolls. The store was really neat.

I agree about the fisher price snap doll. It isn't a baby doll, but my dd loves it. She is 22 months now and I got it for her for Christmas. I wasn't sure she would be able to do it, but she caught on very fast and I have gotten her a couple of different outfit sets and she will spend forever playing with it. It is perfect size for her little hands. They have come out with a baby version too. If you haven't seen them you will have to check them out. We also have the little mommy doll and twins. My dd loves too, but what I don't like is that their clothes get very worn looking quickly. The outfit on the regular doll can be changed, but the twins clothes do not come off. I have to use a clothes fuzzer on it often. Anyway, just my experience so far.

I agree. These are cool!!! I bought them for 2 little girls whose b-day parties we are going to. They will also be turning 2. I actually found out about them through my friend whose dd just had her 2nd birthday b/c I was asking her what her favorite b-day gifts were in helping to prepare for shopping for my twins' upcoming birthday. Anyway, she suggested those and they are really cute. I'm going to get them for my girls' birthday also. They have them for $9.99 at Target. It comes with quite a few snap on pieces already. Extra outfit sets I think are $4.99. I haven't seen them at WalMart though...just Target is where I've seen them. But, MUCH cheaper than on Amazon.

Like pp said, it's not quite a "doll" but it's the same concept and the clothes just snap on!

    Huh,
They must sell slightly different products in different markets. Our twins were just the same as the regular Little Mommy dolls, but they were packaged two in a box, there was a choice of pink/blue green/yellow or pink/purple pijama combos, we got the pink/purple one, but Bianca has named one of the babies Jonathan! So I bought some additional "boy" clothes for them.

Thanks for all the suggestions! They were very helpful. We did look into the American Girl dolls at Christmas time and after thinking about it we decided we would get the Bitty Twins when they are 3 or 4. I think my girls will appreciate them more and hopefully care for them better. :icon_biggrin:

I went to Toys R' Us and bought two Cabbage Patch Kids. After thinking about it, I decided on choosing little girl dolls instead of a baby doll since they are a little older now. I bought a couple outfits but there weren't too many different ones. Michelle do you know where the best place to get more outfits would be?

The Snap N Style look like fun! I think if the Cabbage Patch dolls are a hit we may get those in the future.

Sharon - I'm from the first generation of CPK back in the 80's and I had held onto some fo the clothes. Our TRU has some outfits though. Also try Walmart. We got them diaper bags, diapers and carriers there. The only other place that I could think of is eBay. I know that they sell the vintage clothes on there they probably have newer stuff too.

Also, if you sew at all, I know my Mom used to get patterns for CPK clothes when I was a kid and make them - clothes, slippers, the works! They probably still carry patterns since they are popular again.
