Today I asked when my dr will start checking my cervix and he said there is no point since I'm having a c-section. Is that normal?? What if Im like 3 cm right now and don't even know??? Im not aloud to have sex so maybe he just doesn't want to stir things up even with a cervical check.

aside from my ptl scares, my ob never checked mine once it was determined i would need a section. She didn't want to encourage anything to happen

I have had 7 c-sections...and the doctor started checking my cervix (each time) when pre-term labor started, or at my 8 month appointment (if I remember correctly)

Never checked mine. :) I figured they could see what they needed with the ultrasound that was every week at that point.

My OB checked my cervix up until 28 weeks. I'm having a c-section also. Since then - no cervix checks.

Nobody did mine until I got curious around 36 weeks... I was 3 centimeters and had no idea. My doc was really annoyed that we had no 'baseline' check. I got all excited that I was starting to go into labor but didn't deliver until 2 days before my scheduled c-section.

I didn't until contractions started at 36w5 days and delivered two days later. My doc said he didn't want to start anything. And after a dozen checks at the hospital that were no fun, I'm happy we held off.

As long as everything is fine with no issues, there is really no reason to check. There are many women out there who can tell you they walked around 3 cm dialated for weeks before labor actually started and there are women who were not dialated at all when checked at a regular appointment who go into labor that night. So, as long as there is no concern about PTL, the results of a cervix check don't really mean a lot as far as timing. There is also a slight risk of infection, so I'd say skip it if you can.
