So L and O are nothing alike, and I know I shouldn't compare them, but come on, it's hard not to.

So Owen pretty much demands attention, loves an audience and will smile for anyone. Also, he usually responds to his name, will clap his hands when told to (usually), and also wave his hand when encouraged. Also, Owen is crawling all over the place and getting into everything...

Lilly doesn't do any of this. She will respond to her name sometimes if you call her a bunch. But she doesn't clap or wave or anything. She's very responsive if we play peekaboo or soemthing, she stares very attentively at me and giggles and waits for me to show my face, that kind of thing. She CAN crawl if there's something she really really wants, but that is seldom. She knows how to sit herself up, so she does that all day....

That just recently have started interacting some, like if i have them on either side of this laugh and learn toy with the door, they'll open the door and giggle at each other and stuff.

So do I have any reason to be concerned, or just two totally different kiddos? I'm not losing sleep over this, but I'd rather know sooner than later if there was something I could work on, etc...

    TIA,

    Jennifer

I have two like that. Bizarrely, they are also L&O, and O is much more of a "people person" than L and always has been. She craves company and always wants to be around me. L gets very involved in her own things and keeps herself busy for hours. It was YEARS before L would talk to anyone but me: she found other people really intimidating. She was always quieter. She did like games like peek-a-boo, but she just never needed as much company and interaction as O. I sort of likened them to a cat and a dog. Cats like to be around you, but on their terms, and dogs want to be with you and have your attention all the time.

O crawled first, but I think L clapped first. L did end up walking before O, but I think that's because she never really mastered crawling (she did this belly crawl) until after she learned to walk.

I think they sound absolutely normal! My babies have completely different personalities also!

Mine are quite different, too. Jack smiles at everyone, Lilly is a little slower to warm up to people, Jack is all over the place... crawling, walking around the couch, etc and Lilly has just started to roll. (we do have her getting help with the moving thing, since she is pretty far behind). Her PT has us working on stuff like putting stuff just out of her reach to get her more motivated to move. If your Lilly is crawling when she has something she wants to crawl for, then I would say there is nothing to worry about!

They sound just like Evan and James. James is doing everything and Evan is content to sit. Like you, I try not to compare. I just appreciate their differences. I know if they were born a couple of years apart instead of 8 minutes I would not even remember who did what when and would never compare. So I try not to.

I could have written this statement about both of my boys except they still don't know their names. I figure they will start doing it in their own time.

Mine are totally different too! Anthony is the smiley always happy baby and Alex, well she acts like she is too good for everything already. People try to make her laugh and she kinda looks at them in disgust while Anthony is laughing so hard he can barely sit up. She wants to be by me while Anthony will crawl up on anyone. I think personality plays a big part in it. It's just crazy to think our little ones have thier own personalities!

My girls are so different too. Meara is very smiley and is a great audience.. I can do anything and get a laugh out of her. Ana is a little more reserved, but when you do something she finds funny, she *really* finds it funny!!! Meara crawls all over the place. She is very independent and does not want to be just sitting around.. "there are things to discover so put me on the floor!" Ana on the other hand will sit with me, look at a book, and just chill. She will crawl across the room for a toy she really wants, but if nothing catches her attention she will stay in one spot and look out the window, at her hands, at the floor, at her sister, etc. They are just different. DH and I always comment on how weird it must be to only have one at a time and think that all babies are like the one you have.

This is so my kids too! We joke all the time that Ana is judging us!!! Meara will laugh and give a big smile to anyone, but Ana has to evaluate if you are worthy. She has ALWAYS been like this too. Its so funny.
