Does this sound ok as far as bottle amounts?

We just moved our 5 week twins from 3oz each bottle to 4 oz each bottle last nightlast night. They started sleeping 4 oz stretches and going longer in the day as well. Is this okay? It is expressed breast milk. The problem I have noticed is extreme fussiness between dinner and bedtime. I hate to just give them an extra bottle, but we are just constantly calming them during that time and it is tiring. Could it be they want to eat another bottle to "tank up" before bedtime? I hate to just make a bottle th esolution, but we have tried gripe water, white noise, gas drops, swings, pacis...and this time period is just a witching hour or something.

If they are drinking that "extra" bottle during their fussy time and it is soothing them, then I would definitely keep doing it. They won't eat if they are full, kwim?

I agree, I'd go with the extra bottle. A lot of babies start to cluster feed in the evening which helps them sleep longer at night. All 3 of mine did it and while frustrating at the time, it proved to be a positive payoff as I got to sleep longer at night! They are also coming up on that 6 week growth spurt which is probably making things worse.

    Good luck! [IMG]

We went with the extra bottle before bed. We still do actually. Sounds like they are eating well too!

I may try the extra bottle tomorrow. I don't want it to interfere with bath time. One is a bad spitter-upper. The thing is that they are not rooting when they are fussy. They are giving off pain cries and refusing the paci. Usu. when they are hungry they will take the paci even if it is just to make sure it is not a bottle. Any ideas???

My twins just turned 7 weeks and I find them to be quite fussy in the evening, too. Not necessarily hungry either. We are now offering 4oz at each feeding and they take pretty much all of it. They are taking 6 bottles per day. Is that about what yours are taking?

I would cluster feed them during that time, offer bottles closer together, to keep them full. [IMG]

my boys used to scream almost continually betwee 4-6 or 7,. of course not the whole time i exaggerate but i think it could also be because newborns don't have regular or consistent sleeping patterns and they are overstimulated y that time f the day. we started to cluster feed in the afternoons and it helped a little,. but time helped more. 10 weeks was a turning point for us
