My oldest twin has been fussing/crying during bottle feedings since Thursday. He has gone down a couple of ounces. He is letting cries out during his naps but nothing major. Other than that, he is fine. No fever, runny nose, etc.

I called the Dr. and they want me to bring him in tomorow but she said that she doesn't think it is that since he doesn't have any congestion.

He is 15 weeks today. I remember hating this part of not knowing whether to take in or not. I like it better when you knew how they would act when they were sick.

Also, do they still give antibiotics for ear infections? I thought I heard that they don't anymore so if this is the case, how are they treated? I know Motrin/Tylenol didn't cut it for my older ones!

My baby wouldn't eat or lay down due to the pain in her ear when she had an ear infection. Or...it could just be fluid in your baby's ear...but that feels bad, too. Mine never had congestion when she had an ear infection. I would take your baby...you never know.

Could be teething, could be an ear infection. If its an ear infection the doc will probably prescribe something like amoxicillan for it. If the ears look fine your best bet is to try baby orajel on the gums a few times a day, teething rings, and some tylonel to help with the pain

If it is an ear infection they will probably give him amoxicillan. My DS is just getting over an ear infection. He too started not eating as much and screaming for no apparent reason, But he was very congested and had a fever when I decided to take him to the doctor. He has been on ammoxicillan for it and we just went to the doctor on friday and hes doing much better now so I'm happy I decided to call and take him in.

If he settles down and feels better when something really warm is over his ears, then it probably is an ear infection.

Poor guy! I would take him just in case it is an ear infection. When we get them (we both have one now) they usually give us either Augmentin (generic) or Omnicef. The girls like the taste of Omnicef better but the Augmentin is 10 buck cheaper....good luck!
