My boys were mono/di twins.. even confirmed at birth, so does that mean they are identical or could there be a possibility that their frat? They definitely don't look ID to me at all. Only people who glance at both of them through our shopping extravaganzas believe to think so. Also, since they were mono/di.. all the heart specialists thought it was odd that Angelo had a heart condition and Anthony was perfectly normal. Anyone have any input?

Here's some photo so you can judge for yourself.
I'm sure 99% will say FRAT too.

if they're confirmed mono/di then, yes, they are identical. it means they shared a placenta which can only happen if they are from one egg that split.

sometimes, people are told they have mono/di twins because it appears that there's one placenta when it was actually two placentas that fused. that would be the only way that you could have "mono"/di twins that aren't identical - and that would only be because they weren't actually monochorionic. HTH.

It's hard to tell, but is their eye color the same? What about their blood type? Well if they are mono/di for sure then they are identical. They look alike...BUT can you post a few more pictures. I can see why you are wondering.

I'm not too sure of their blood type but they do have the same color eyes. I think what throws me off is the different shapes of their heads. Angelo has a perfect round face and Anthony has a heart shapped face.

I've always thought they looked different. I would be surprised if they were identical. If it were me I would do a DNA test (but I did it it still turned out identical lol). They could have been wrong about it being one placenta.

Its real hard to say. For the longest time my boys looked alot different .. but they are supposedly mono/di as well. BUT one of mine also has a heart defect and the other doesnt and I think that in itself might throw us off. Jayden (my CHD child) has always had a small round head and Jesse had a bigger head and chubbier face. He even looks smaller even though they weigh the same and are the same height. As my boys got older they also grew to look more alike .. I cant tell you how many times a day I mix them up myself.
I think the only solution (for both of us) is to get a DNA test done .. then we'll know for sure !

Btw .. Our heart specialist didnt think it odd at all .. he said CHD's are just a fluke and can happen to any child .. even an ID who has a perfectly heart healthy twin. :)

It's hard to tell based on your photos! The only photo they look id to me in is photo 3. But if they were mono/di then yes, they are id.

Do you think that the different shaped faces has to do with the difference in their weight? My identicals look a little different in the face too, and it seems to get to be a much bigger difference when Liam outweighs Ryan by a half pound or more. If they get closer in weight, their faces look, well, identical.

My girls are ID (I'm sure because they had TTTS), and they have differently shaped heads, as well. One has a longer face and a higher head, and one has a smaller, rounder head. Also, one of my students remarked that her sister has IDs with similarly shaped heads, and that they grew out of it by the time they were 3. Now they look exactly alike. Also, one of my girls seems to have Auditory Neuropathy (I'm still not sure that I buy it) and the other one doesn't. I blame the TTTS. Sometimes I wonder how long her nutrition supply was restricted with little measurable slowing in growth.

Well, Angelo has always been smaller by a pound or more, but after his surgery, he shot right up and is now 8oz. bigger than his brother. In utero, they thought I had TTTS, got tested, and it turned out to be that Angelo was smaller because of a heart condition (VSD). Now Angelo's face is way bigger than Anthony's and definitely recognizable. I wonder if they become the same weight that they'll look identical but it's only 8 oz.. hmm..

I know my twins were mono/di in womb. They were confirmed
at birth of being mono/di (meaning the dr couldn't find a seperation
in the placenta). They look alot alike in the face (ie, eyes, mouth, cheeks)
but when I got the pathology report on the placenta (the nurse let
me look through my records) it came back that they are di/di twins,
meaning they are faternal and not identical.. (but one of my twins
has a round head and big face and the other has more of a oval and
    long skinny face.)
