Does gestation age affect when teeth come in?

I have read a few posts about teething, and there seems to be a wide range of when the babies have cut teeth. If you think about it it would make sense, but I was just wondering. I think mine have been teething for what seems like months now, but no sign of any teeth. They are just now six months, and were born at 38 weeks 0 days. I've seen where others have had children cut their first tooth at 8 months, maybe they were born more early? I guess I'm just ready for these teeth to pop in cause they aren't sleeping well, drooling like crazy, and will burst out crying for no apparent reason at all! Poor babies!

My boys were born at 39w 2d and had 4 teeth by 4m. Today on their first bday they have about 11/12 teeth.

Mine were born 34 weeks and I think they started the teething process at 4 months but we still have no teeth! I asked the ped and she said that it is common to have them start around 4 months with the drool, but that they usually don’t cut the teeth until 9 months. She did say because my babies were early it could take even longer. I’m right there with you, I want to see some teeth already.

My oldest daughter was born at 41w and she got her first 2 teeth at 4 months and had 10 teeth by 10 months.

My twins were born 3 months early and my son got his first tooth at 7.5 months and his second at 8 months. My daugther got her first tooth at 9.5 months and her second at 10 months.

My babies were 9 weeks early. Grace got her first 2 teeth in early November (at about 7.5 months old). But she was working on those teeth for at least a month prior to that, and drooling and chewing on things for even more time before.

Lily's been working on teeth now for what feels like 3 months - but nothing yet. I think Grace is about to pop another one very soon.

I'd say they started the teething process at maybe 4.5 to 5 months old. It took forever (still taking forever for Lily).

My two were born at 36 weeks and 4 days. At (almost) 10 months, DD has 0 teeth and DS has four (top two popped out, just barely, last week).

Seems like there is no rhyme or reason to teething -- I've heard it is genetic, so if you or your DH as an early/late teether that trait might have been passed along.

My 34 weekers got teeth at dramatically different times. Josie got her first two teeth at 5 1/2 months, but Bella didn't get any until almost 8 months. Now, at 10 months, Josie has 7, almost 8, and Bella has 5, almost 6.
