Does anyone use crib bumpers?

I know they aren't recommended so I haven't used them and can't remember if I used them 11 years ago with my daughter. My one daughter will scoot herself up head against hard wood crib or has once gotten her leg stuck between the slats. I wish I could put something soft against the sides. She is 6 months and can turn her head if it were up against the bumper but I still don't know. Still to young to use them to climb out of the crib so that doesn't worry me like smothering would. I've also heard about breathable bumpers. Are they cushiony? Maybe I should try them?

I used them until the boys started standing on them.

I just took mine out as DD was standing on them. yes, already at 7+ months. Now I want to put them back in because they can see each other and they play when they should be sleeping.

I have the breathable bumpers, and my son just pushes them down to stick his legs out the slats and gets stuck. My daughter doesn't, and she lies up against the rails a lot, so I am glad she has a small amount of padding, but honestly, I am not sure they help much as they are quite thin and as I mentioned, easy for them to push down and get stuck anyhow.

I use them for DS as we found out he slept better when they were on. He was waking up from getting pinned up against the rail and didn't like the feeling. Ever since we put them in (arounrd 4-5 months or so) he has slept like a champ.

Still have mine up in their cribs. They haven't figured out how to use them to get out yet...getting close though.

I had mine until they were 2 1/2 and moved to beds. They also would slam their heads up against the side.

I used them with all of my kids. I used the breathable bumper with Jake for awhile, but went back to the regular kind, as the breathable kept slipping down.

Would you consider weaving the bumper in and out of the slats? It takes a little practice to figure out how many in and how many out to get all the way around the crib but it worked for us for almost 3 years.

We used the breathable bumpers and loved them. If you put them on really tight they really don't move much. They also have the CribShield which is larger than just the bumper.

I use them for the same reason. Mine have never had a problem with them. Relax and do what works for you

We still use ours at ten months. They sleep with their heads up against them every night. I also kept them in my older son's crib till he was probably 18 months or so.

Yes, I still do and they are almost 10 mo. Mine don't stand on them though even though they could..I dropped the mattresses so low that even if they did, they couldn't get out...but my babies are short, so it's a working combination...(26 in.) They didn't sleep well when I took them out, they dropped their binkies out of the crib so easily and then I was constantly pulling the beds out in the dark searching aimlessly...

We used them from 4 months and still do (my twins are 27 months). They didn't sleep in their cribs until 4 months because they preferred the bouncy seats, but once they were in the cribs, we realized that one of my DDs in particular is a very active sleeper. And they both liked to sleep with the tops of their heads up against the bumper. It just never seemed that dangerous to me. And then when they started pulling up, they showed no inclination to stand on the bumper, so we just left them in.

We have regular soft bumpers. The breathable ones would not have served the purpose of being comfy for them to snuggle up with.
