Does anyone NOT have a c section?

I'm just curious as It sounds like everyone on here has had c sections. Does everyone pretty much do this? I know that the odds are much greater with multiples, but just wondering if anyone has not, from personal experience.

I would like to not have a c-section but with my stubborn baby boy A still in a breech position and living very rural on an island as we do, the doctors won't risk it. I also was just diagnosed with GD so that increases the chances of going c-section too. Oh well, as long as they are healthy and cook as long as possible, I'm sure it'll be ok however they're born. But as for previous experience, I can't say, these are our first!

I am going to try my hardest not to have a c-section. Baby A is vertex and B is oblique so they have no idea what B will do once A is out. It's always risky.

No c-section here. Both born vaginally at 37.5 weeks - 21 minutes apart. Honestly, it was a fairly easy delivery with only about 6 hours labor. Both of mine were vertex, but my OB would have done a breech delivery of B if necessary.

I think as more people answer, you'll find that a good percentage had vaginal deliveries.

No C-Section here. My ob was very open to a vaginally delivery with twins. She said as long as Baby A was turned and was bigger than Baby B she would let me have them vaginally. I was fortunate that both babies turned head down and A was bigger than B. I am so glad I had them vaginally because the recovery time was quick. It is possible to have twins vaginally had I highly recommend it. I even wanted to go natural but ob was not open to that decision. She wanted me to have the epidural in case she had to do an emergency C-Section. Thankfully everything went smoothly.

I had a vaginal delivery, but it was difficult. Baby A was head down and Baby B was transverse. Baby A was smaller than BAby B. Baby A (Noah) was a vacuum delivery and was very difficult to push out. When Baby B (Joshua) came down he was face up and was also a very difficult delivery which required the vacuum (I was close to having a c-section with Joshua). I had a 3rd degree tear and very bad hemmroids from all of the pushing, so I didn't have an easy recovery at all. 3 yards of stitches total. So I don't know the difference between a c-section recovery and a vaginal recovery, but I assume a normal vaginal delivery would have a much easier recovery.

I had vaginal delivery at 36 weeks 5 days. It was my easiest delivery. Baby A was head down and came out in two pushes. Baby B was slightly bigger and head down as well and came out 11 minutes later using the vacuum. She was high up there and the doctor had some trouble getting her to come down. Maybe she liked having the extra room for a change. LOL We went home two days later just like my other births.

My doctors try to delivery vaginally when ever possible and of course safe. My doctor would have let me deliver in a birthing room. One her partners was on call when mine arrived and didn't feel comfortable so they were delivered in a delivery room.

Remember the end result is seeing your precious babies and their health and your yours. Don't fret, it will work out either way. [IMG]

My girls were delivered vaginally, 8 minutes apart, at 37w3d.

I delivered them vaginally at 38w2d. Very easy and quick delivery (unlike my first delivery). Baby A was head down and Baby B was born by breech extraction 4 minutes later.

I had a vaginal delivery at 34w6d. It was very important to me to have a vag delivery as long as the circumstances were right and my peri was very supportive of the goal. Baby A was vertex and the largest of the two, baby B was breech. Ethan (A) was born very quickly and easily. Anthony (B) was born breech with some dangerous complications but both came home healthy. I'll never know, but I wholeheartedly believe that my recovery was much easier than it could have been with a csection.

    Good luck!

The numerous polls that tend to happen here through the years on TS show about 50% vaginal and 50% c-section. I think people just tend to get more nervous about the possibility of c-sections and sometimes the dates are preplanned so there tends to be more conversation, concern, worries etc about them than vaginal deliveries.

I did not have a c/s and my baby B was breech. My only chance to avoid a c/s was for another OBGYN to push on my belly to turn baby B while I was pushing out baby A. It worked beautifully but "external cephalic versions" as they're called (turning the baby by external manipulation) is pretty much a lost art. The OB who did it for me was 70 years old and was the only OB at that hospital who did those, so my doctor scheduled him to be present at my induction. My doctor would NOT deliver a breech baby however, so if the other doc hadn't been able to turn Ryan I would have had Lauren vag and Ryan c/s. Luckily I didn't have to. But the only reason my doc was willing to try this is because my first child was delivered vag and he was over 8#. We knew my body was capable of delivering a large baby. My twins were both just over 6#.

If both of your babies are head-down as you approach your due date then there is no reason for you to have to automatically have a c/s.

Not me. I had mine vaginally. I think c-sections should be reserved for those situations that have a medical reason. Having twins should not be an automatic reason for c-section.

I had a vaginally delivery. My doctor said if both were head down we would shoot for that. Mine did end up both being head down and were born 5 minutes apart. If one had been breeched though she would have done an automatic c-section.

Even though I had them vaginally I still delivered in the OR in case they had to do a c-section once Baby A came out.

I wanted to have a vag delivery so badly and my dr. was very supportive even though my baby b was breech and we tried for a long time but labor was not progressing and heartbeats were irregular so we had an emergency c-section. It was really disappointing to me but I know that there are a lot of women who have been able to delivery vaginally without any issues. My dr. said that vaginal twin deliveries even tend to me easier and faster. Good Luck!

Nope, I had a vag. delivery with my twins. A was vertex, B was breech. She flipped to vertex once A came out. All was good, it was a great labor and delivery.

I personally had to have a section b/c of low birth weight and baby B being breech.

My cousin had twin boys at 35 weeks and delivered both vaginally. I have another friend who had b/g twins and was induced at 38 weeks and also delived both vaginally. So, yes, it is possible!

Well, so far I still don´t know what will be, but as both babies are in the right position and fit, I made it to 37 weeks today and are completely healthy, I´m still going for a natural birth at home, just like I had with my second daughter.

If there are any odds, we live only five minutes away from hospital.

I delivered my twin girls vaginally ( 4'13 & 5'5) @ 36 weeks, and had a C/S to get my husky little man out...go figure hey? ( he weighed almost a lb bigger than the girls together) p

I didnt have a c-section. [IMG] My girls were head down..and stayed that way. Faith was born after 2 hours of pushing and Bridget came 26 mins later. IT can be done. But the way I look at it..its about getting the babies here safely..no matter if its a c-section or vaginally. I would have had a c-section in a minute if my babies or I was in danger. So no matter what you go through...you will be OK. [IMG]

I had mine vaginally, but it was not an easy delivery and a very hard recovery.

Looking back, I wish that I'd been able to bf more than that they'd been born "naturally".

    Best wishes,

I haven't had my boys yet, but I'm trying for a vaginal delivery. They are both head down and everything is going well so far. My OB said that if they were both head down then I could choose C/S or Vag. She is leaving it up to me.

Like i said I'm going to try for a vaginal delivery (but using drugs, no natural childbirth for me).
I'm as the pregnancy progresses I have to have a c/section then well that is waht I'll do.

I didn't have a C-section. My babies were born vaginally, 6 minutes apart. Baby B was transverse so we did have to do external version guided with u/s to move her but all went well.

My OB was very similar in her rules. She said as long as the first baby was head down...and they both were...that she would only do a c-section for an emergency.

My delivery went very well, I opted for the epidural (I felt like I was drunk for a few hours [IMG]) And I thought that with the epidural, pushing was very easy. (even my OB was impressed)

No c-section here. Mine were both born vaginally, 10 minutes apart, at 38 weeks, it was the easiest of my deliveries. [IMG]

My first was vaginal, my second was c-sect, the twins were vaginal. My easiest birth wa sthe vaginal with the twins. I could not even feel baby B come out. Seriously, it took 4 pushes to get them both out. (I dont know if that is a good thing or bad thing when I think about it.)

No c/s here either. Twin A was bigger and head down. Twin B was breech but smaller so our doctor said no problem. They were born four minutes apart at 34W6D.

I have 6 children and am currently pregnant w/ #7 and have had all vaginal births. My twin boys are now 2 and they were delivered vaginally. It was a huge affair in which my 1st ob that we interviewed and loved at first backed out and said at 37 wks he refused to do a vaginal delivery, which he originally said would be no prob in the event that B was breech as long as A was vertex. He ended up terminating my care due to the fact I would not consent to a c/s. I did my homework and researched the last 6 wks of my pregnancy and knew that both babies were doing great and the pregnancy was going really well. At 38 wks he threatened to take us to court for endangering both babies. It was a mess. At 40 wks I gave birth to my boys both vaginally with another dr that had heard my story. It took an entire week to find someone to deliver a breech baby B vaginally. He was experienced with breech babies and said due to A being vertex and B breech they were in a great position to do a vaginal birth. He didn't want to try and turn B knowing that the baby was probably in that position for a good reason. So, I went into labor naturally and my boys were here in 4 hrs. A was born without any affair and B came out feet 1st only a few minutes later. Both were completely and perfectly healthy. My only regret was the epidural dh and I finally agreed to. We debated forever since my labor was going so well and the pain was manageable. But we decided in the event that I did need a c/s I wanted to be aware of everything. So, I had an epi and that was absolutely the worst part of the entire labor and delivery. If I had it to do over again that's the only part I'd change...forego the epi! LOL!

Congats on your babies!!! A vaginal birth can be done. Educate yourself really well and research everything about it with a multiple pregnancy and then go from there if you're really really desiring one. Usually dr's that work and back up midwives are the ones most experienced and confortable with "unsual" presentations and will work with you the most. Some positions just cannot be done like A breech and B vertex since it can be very fatal to both babies due to chin lock in delivery but most of the time a vaginal birth can at least be attempted safely. We found out much later that my 1st dr that orginally agreed to a vaginal delivery if B did indeed end up breech and agreed that induction would not be used could not even do a breech delivery or let a multiple pregnancy go past 37 wks due to his insurance contract. So, many dr's are not allowed to attempt a vaginal delivery if twins are anything but both vertex due to their insurance agreements and contracts. You might ask your dr in detail about how far he is willing to go, how experienced he is and what his insurance policy allows if you really want to pursue a vaginal birth.

Forgot to add.....I would've had a c/s in a heartbeat had either of my babies been in danger. But as it was I didn't ever feel that either of them were and all of the u/s's, which were weekly from 36 wks on, they were doing great and both placenta and cords looked great along with weights, their amount of movement and all of the other stuff we watched. Had either of them been showing signs of distress I would've consented to a c/s in a second. I just wanted the opportunity to at least try for a vaginal birth....which in the end paid off. But I do agree that it's all about getting both babies here safely and finally into your arms that have been aching to hold for them for months!!!!

And at 40 wks they weighed 6'4 and 7'2. The breech one was actually the heavier one.

All of my children have been delivered vaginally. The recovery time really turned me off a c/s. I was lucky enough to be given a choice.

Vaginal here (singleton and twins). Unmedicated, too [IMG]

Twins were vertex/breech. Born at 40w2d. Both were 8 lbs.
