Hi - I was just wondering if anyone gives baths during the day instead of night? I've read a lot of people using baths as part of their bedtime routine - but that doesn't seem to work out for us uless we only bathe them 2-3's a week, but my dr. said that was also good enough. Anybody do it earlier then bedtime?

I never did baths at night until they were about 10/11m and switched to the tub. I always gave them baths after breakfast at about 8am 2/3 times a week. Then I could give one a bath in the sink while the other stayed in the highchair, then I would switch. I would be byself on the weekends and this was the easiest. Now, they are 13m and too big for the sink, It's easier to give baths at night when we both can help and since it is winter now I do every other night.

I do. My DH doesn't get home until later, so most of the time, I bathe the kids during the day. They are about every other night for a bath too, my son's got crazy dry skin, and I just can't do it more than that along with DD#1. I think with the two of them, bathtime for us really isn't 'relaxing' so I never really thought of it as part of the bedtime routine.

I don't do baths at night. I work during the night so dh is home alone with them and the bath gets them too riled up. So we do it during the day. Maybe when they are older we will switch but right now we do daytime baths.

Nope. We do not do baths at night. We bath them every 2-3 days in the daytime. Their doctor said that every 2-3 days is fine at this age. When they get older and are easier to bathe, we will probably add it to a bedtime routine. I also find that it is not relaxing for them because they don't really like it yet.

I always did it after breakfast before their morning nap or as they got older before we went out for the day. They got baths about 3 times a week unless they got really messy or were sick with colds.. then I gave a bath everyday just to get all the congestion out.

I don't, we usually do it after breakfast, before their nap every other day. Ours too, do not like it much, but after they are done, nicely wrapped up and warm, they quickly fall asleep.

I give mine whenever I have time...usually during the day. I only give mine baths about two or three times a day as they have skin breakdown since they were preemies. Plus, it isn't like they are sweating or working out and need baths. I have seen too many kids have dry patches due to parents being neurotic about baths. Baths don't seem to relax my twins...so...daytime is usually primetime.

My boys are 17 months and DH still bathes them during the day. He said with all we have to do at night things are too chaotic and it's so much simpler during the day.

We do baths during the day on M-W-F and once on the weekend. Bedtime is too hectic for us with a 4yo too. She gets a shower with me everyday or every other in the winter.

You can have a great night time routine without a bath. I think it's less stressful - at least for us.

I don't give baths at night since I'm usually working. Baths are given during the day, usually after breakfast about 2-3 times a week. When they're able to sit up without assistance then they'll take their baths in the kitchen sink until its time to move onto bathtub with big sister.

I did it whenever I got the chance when they were little. Now that they are eating full table food meals for dinner, I usually NEED to give them a bath before they get their pajamas on. I would prefer to bathe them every other day, but often times they are dirty enough to need one every day.

We do baths at night. But I used to do them whenever. I used to do them after coming home from visiting family/friends out of fear of germs (well, still do [IMG] )Now it's part of the bed time ritual.

When they were your's age I would do it whenever. Somedays I just sponged them down instead of giving them a bath. My ped recommended they only get baths 3 x a week as well otherwise it would dry out their skin. Now I do it as part of the bedtime routine.

I find baths usually wake them up. I try to do a bath mid morning - that works well for us and we have one child in school. Pluss, I only bathe them twice a week. There skin gets really dry if I do it more often. When my other kids were a little older I would pop them in the tub right after dinner (my kids were MESSY eaters!).

    Hope that helps!

Our girls get baths 2-3 times a week. During the week, it is during the evening, after dinner. On the weekend, we usually try to do it in the morning, after breakfast. I would prefer doing it during the day each time, but my husband and I both work during the day. So, bath time during the week is in the evening, but it isn't really part of the bedtime routine. In fact, they are usually more fired up after a bath, either from playing or getting upset.

When my kids were born, all the way until they were 6 mos old, we bathed them in the morning. At that time, I was not working, and it was just easier to do it first thing in the morning. It woke them up enough that they did not fall back asleep right away, and it keep them so busy that they were konked out by their nap time. It was wonderful!!! The only downside was that I had to do it by myself. But at that age they were not mobile so it was easy just to park one in the exersaucer while the other got a bath!

I went back to work part time at 6 mos and it was just easier to do it at night. At that point they were starting to understand that it was bedtime and a bath before hand seemed to calm them down and wear them out. It then became part of our normal routine.

Same here (except my 4yo is a boy and still gets a bath)!

Mine usually take a shower with me in the morning about every other day; they don't get dirty every day, plus i need time to myself,KWIM. They sit in their bouncers on a towel until i am ready for them and they get quick scrub down. This works really well for us. We have tried the evening baths but it is crazy at our house in the evening so we avoid adding any unnecessary routines.

I either give them a bath in the kitchen sink or a sponge bath earlier in the day, it's just too hectic at night around here to do the babies baths. I also have to give the 2 older kids baths/showers and they are on an every other night schedule. (Although I'm thinking about making my smelly 7 yr take a daily shower [IMG])
