I have noticed that a ton of people on her CIO but I wanted to know if other's don't do that? My twins just turned a year a few days ago but were preemies so they should only be 10 months. Still. Does anyone not do it?

I did CIO with my boys, my girls slept through at 3 months on their own. So yes, and no. :)

I posted this same question and observation a while back when I was new to Twinstuff. My twins are only three months, but we do not plan on doing CIO.

I haven't so far. I didn't with my older two. With the twins, since sometimes you just can't get to one right away I accidentially learned that Nick will go to sleep if you just let him fuss for a few minutes. He cries for a minute or two and then is out cold. Alex gets hysterical so I still soothe him to sleep.

We have not done it...we give them a pacifier to go to sleep at night...when we were night weaning them I would just get up and put in a paci every time they started all out crying - the first couple of nights were pretty rough. Now they pretty much sleep 11 1/2 hours every night.

No, not everyone uses CIO. It's just another of the many parenting decisions made based on individual circumstances and parenting ideology.

Are your twins having trouble sleeping?

I tried CIO just once for about 15 minutes. The continuous crying of our LO broke our hearts, so DH and I sweared not to give it another try.

We didn't. Right now we have one boy that goes to bed easily while the other still needs a little soothing first. but they both sleep through the night just fine. And while there have been a few rough nights (like the one night I was up till 2 AM trying to get Mr Fussy to go to sleep) it's getting easier now that we have a regular bedtime routine.

We did not do CIO and our babies are sleeping 10 hour stretches at night. Our daughter has been doing this since 2.5 months and our son just started a couple of weeks ago.

We are halfies - We don't do CIO with Rhys since he only cries if he needs something - dirty diaper, foot stuck in crib but with Owen we let him go for about 15-20min and if he doesn't go back to sleep then we get up. We never did CIO with our older DD - the boob was usually the answer for her

We tried, gave it a real earnest effort but it only went well for Luke who has a milder personality. Noah lost his mind. Yes we still wake up at night but in the grand skeem of things, it really isn't that bothersome and I know it will get easier as they get older. So, long story short, we aren't going to try it again. What we have isn't broke. Anyways, good luck with whatever you decide.

We are not doing the CIO. The boys still share the same crib in our room and I'm afraid that if one is asleep the one that is crying will wake up his brother. We are living with my IL's so we don't have the option of giving the boys their own room right now. Until then they will have to share a crib and I just get up or DH gets up if they cry. They sleep for the most part through the night unless they are sick or something is bothering them.

Yes and no. They get up alot but I just nurse them to sleep or bring them in the bed with me.

Naps are worse. They will NOT sleep without nursing. I'm not sure how to fight that battle but I will deal with it for awhile

Our boys are 6 months old and we did not use CIO and our boys have been STTN for over a month about 10 hours each night. That being said, I'm not going to take the CIO option off the table either. I don't mind occasionally getting up in the middle of the night, like 2 nights ago when Brandon woke up at 2:45am and then again at 3:45am. But if that were to become a regular occurrence then we probably would use CIO for that. For now though the occasional night waking doesn't bother us.

Did you have a question about getting your babies to sleep without CIO, or did you just want to conduct a poll?

We did do CIO with my son - my daughter didn't need it - but it only took a couple of days and after those miserable couple of days 10 months ago they have been sleeping from 7:00 - 7:00 every night!

We do not follow the CIO method. Neither my husband or I feel that it is right for us. The boys are 10 months old (8 adjusted).

We did not the first year. I never wanted to do it, but ours were still waking up 2 times a night each. My DD was actually starting to wake up more often, like 4 or 5 times a night. I couldn't handle the sleep deprivation anymore (neither could my DH). We did a modified CIO plan where we did verbal reassurance, but didn't pick them up. We also weaned them off of night feeding to get back to sleep. My DS now STTN about 11 hours. My DD is an early bird. She will sleep about 9.5-10 hours, sometimes 11. Anyway, I feel much more functional now that they are sleeping better. We also worked on nap training at the same time, and they sleep about 1.5-2 hours at the same time.

for us it was more "fuss it out" than "cry it out"...ours would fuss and whine a bit (but if we rocked they'd stay awake forever!) so we'd rock till drowsy and then lay them in the crib...and if they were still fussing after 15 minutes we'd go and pat and rub backs a bit...but if ours were out and out howling something was up...same for middle of the night wakings once they were past eating at night - we'd let them go for a few minutes and 95% of the time they'd fall back to sleep on their own...

Yes and no. 2 out of the 5 kids we did CIO. It comes down to the child, the parent and intuition (IMO). 3 of the kids just didn't need it. They STTN on their own. 2 of them did need, and so did I.

Not us. Our twin girls are 4 months, we do pick up put down method from the baby whisper.
