Does anyone know Targets Return Policy?

I registered for the pink and blue vesions of the boppy seats at babiesRus...super cute both exactly alike but one in pink and one in blue...awsome for twins....anyway....My cousin who had twins umpteen years ago when they hardly had any baby gear anyway decided I didn't need two bouncy seats, i would have a swing so why two seats (her words to my mother) so she bought me a gender nutral bouncy seat at Target. One of my friends bought me the pink bouncy seat from my registry and I am planning on getting the blue one myself. I want to use them sorta like highchairs when there little before they really need a highchair (this was very convienent with my son and sence I am hoping to have them on the same schedule = two bouncy seats) So I'm hoping to be able to exchange the seat at target for some clothes or something but I remember hearing some pretty bad stuff about there return policy?

Not to sound ungrateful....but....Why do people do that...I get not wanting to buy something off someones registry, I've done that I mean sometimes things arn't in your price range but I'll buy clothes or diapers or stuff that didn't have a particular type picked out.....I guess I'm just tired of people telling me what I'll need well mainly what I wont need.

Targets return policy is the WORST!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the same problem as you :(
You can only have something like 2 returns for cash per year (per person - so I would make DH return stuff as well as my MIL) and it has to be items under $20 each time or something crazy??
If you have reciepts it is NO problem though :good:
    Ask people for reciepts!!!

Target is pretty easy going about there return policy. They will exchange without recipt 2x with your drivers licence in a 1 year period. And will give you a gift card to use on anything you want in the store.
    Good luck

Target is TERRIBLE when it comes to their return policy.

Basically, you have 90 days to return something WITH a receipt.

If you don't have a receipt, they will only allow you to return 2 items PER YEAR...and they have to be LESS THAN $20 each. Furthermore, the last time I returned something w/o a receipt they told me that I had to not only use the exchange money that DAY ONLY, but it had to be from the same department!!! May not be a problem if you are just getting more baby stuff, but it was a strange requirement.

HOWEVER...there is hope. A Target employee gave me this little "hint":

If you have a registry, FIRST add the item you want to return to your registry. THEN ask to return the item (you might have to do different trips?). Apparently, they will basically use your registry as the "receipt"...you can just say that the person didn't give you a gift receipt...and if they question why it doesn't show as purchased off of your registry (which it obviously wont) you can point out that the accuracy of things purchased off of a registry is far from a science. (I got FOUR of the same toaster from my registry when I got married...it never got taken off for whatever reason).

Anyway, good luck, hope that helps...and worst case, one of your kids gets the gender neutral seat which isn't really a huge deal, right?

Yah, I get quite perplexed about the whole registry thing. Everyone actually ASKED me if I had one and then I got a gift not even on the registry which, in my opinion, was completely off the wall unnecessary and totally silly! I have NO clue where it was purchased as I have never seen it before and I made sure that I put lots of 'cheap' and affordable items in the registry so folks who couldn't afford much, would have a wide variety of things to choose from. But I guess it doesn't matter! There will always be that one person who believes they know what is best and will get what they want regardless.. ahh, well!! I AM grateful for what I have received but it does perplex me!

As for Target... ugh. Don't get me started. They are just horrendous when it comes to returning anything -with or without receipts! Love the store, hate their policies.

But I am gonna try that tip above with adding it to the registry and mayhaps I'll have some luck!! Good luck to you, as well, with the return of the item!!

I don't like Target's return policy. PP is correct they will return/exchange something 2x a year without a receipt, which I think is ridiculous if the tags are still on it. My MIL got Emilie a dress last year from there and she already had that one, and I went to exchange it and they acted like it was such a big deal and the tags were still on it. With a receipt they are very good about it. :good:

Target's return policy is horrible. I brought a birthday gift back there recently that I just wanted to exchange. The item sold for $9.99 and they offered me about $2 for it without my receipt. They were also extremely nasty to me because I did not have a receipt. I told her I would wait and get the receipt rather than take an $8 loss on an item that was purchased 10 days earlier.

So without a receipt, they let you return things twice in a 12 month period. And their policy with a receipt is 90 days. I would highly recommend getting the receipt from your cousin.

I'll ditto everyone else. Target's return policy isn't the greatest when you don't have a receipt or a gift receipt. However, what if you add the gender neutral seat that you didn't want to your registry and then take it back & use your registry as your "receipt"---like the pp mentioned. Sounds like you may have to create a registry first---you can do this online. Add both seats & then online mark the gender neutral one as "fulfilled"--you can do this online yourself too! I know, it all sounds pretty devious but if they weren't so crazy about their policy you wouldn't have to go to such extremes! Then ask to just exchange it for the Blue Boppy seat--you might have to pay the difference? I know they have the Boppy seat b/c I registered for 2 of them from Target & rec'vd both---they are so cute & cozy. ;)

    Good luck!

I hate targets return policy for items that you don't have the receipt for. My mom bought my girls pants. I wanted to exchange the white ones for blue ones and it had to be exchanged as one of the 2 allowed exchanges a year. Luckily I was with my MIL, since I had used up my returns already.
I do love that if you charged the item, you don't need the receipt. Just give them the credit card and they can look it up for you.
