Does anyone here have tall twins?

My twins are being told "tall" for their age. They just turned 1 year old (Sept. 30, 2006) means today they are 13 mos old.

At their last 12 month check-up:
Justin weight 22 lbs 8 oz. 31 inches wears 5-1/2 shoes (will go to size 6 by xmas)
Rianna weight 21 lbs and 13 oz. 29-1/2 inches wears 4-1/2 shoes (will go to size 5 by xmas)

We belong to a big play group in our home town. Every mother that I talk with or ask me -- how old are they? I said, they're 13 months (they say, no way) look at my son, he's 2 and only 32 inches and wears 18 months clothes. Then they proceed to ask is your family all tall? My husband's side family is over 6'3.

No wonder I get that look after they check out my twins at the mall but they don't say it. I am thinking maybe they didn't realized all babies come in different shape and sizes. My twins also do NOT look like each other. Justin look like "Charlie Brown" and Rianna look like "Lucy".

 

Haley is tall. She is 15 months and at her check up was almost 24lbs and is 32", both of my girls wear size 6 shoes right now. Megan is not shorter by not by much she is 30.5" and weights less than 22lbs.

My dh is 6' and everyone but me is really tall in my family. Haley has consistanty been in the 95% for height.

 

Both Maisy & Keira are 31" tall, 97%. At our twins' group Halloween party one of the dads couldn't believe the girls were just 12 months old because of their height (and probably their head size too--they are both off the charts!).

I have to admit it is fun to watch their expression when we tell them how old they are -- I'll already have been getting used to that by now. When we had our 9 months picture taken, I had finally realized they do look a bit older by the time they had their 1 year old picture again they look like they are almost 2 years old.

 

At our 15 month checkup, Evan was 31 1/2 lbs and 34" tall!! That is the 99th percentile for both. Yes, he is a big boy!! Ava is 23 1/2 lbs and 32" tall, so she is tall too, just looks short compared to him!

 

At my girl's 15 month appt Liberty was 23lbs 5oz and 32 3/8" tall and Leighanna was 21lbs 12oz and 32 1/4" tall. They both were in the 95 percentile. They have their 18 month appt next month and I'm thinking they should be about 33 1/2 -34" tall. I find it funny that my girls are so tall, DH is only 5' 6" tall (my little shorty) and he's the tallest in his family. I'm 5' 8" and my father is 6'2" so I think my girls are going to follow my side of the family, thank God.

 

Ours have always been in about the 95th percentile for height. They often get mistaken for being older. You can see our 2 yr stats in my siggy.

 

Mine are tall. They were 40 inches by their 3 year well child check. Even though they won't be 4 for a few more months, people have assumed they were 4 few a while now. They are also very articulate which contributes to that. But at 5'10", I'm one of the shortest in my family.

Mine are on the tall side. They are both 30 lbs and 36" last time I checked. Our doc guessed they are going to be 5'8" when they are adults.

 

All my kids are on the taller side.
At a year Kira was 31in and 21lbs 13oz she also always had big feet and never fit into infant socks
Katrina 28 1/2 in and 19lbs 8oz
Matteo was 30 3/4in and 22lbs 30z he is also in a size 6Wide shoe but I think he has outgrown them now an I need to buy new ones.

When I was at the Disney pool with my son a lady asked me how old my son was and when I told her a year she was in shock. He was taller than her 2yr old and about the same size as her 3yr old. I am tall 5 11 and my dh is 5 10 so our kids should probably be atleast that height.

 

At 3yo..my boys were 39 and 40 inches tall and I think they have each grown at least another inch in the last 3 months!

DH and I both have tall siblings.

 

My twins are tall. They are 18.5 months and they were @ 98%tile for their height 34.5 in. They also have big feet and are in a size 8 and I think by the end of November they'll be in a size 9 shoe.

 

Molly was 29 inches and Liam 31 at 12 months but they have the littest feet (my fault 5'11' size 8 feet) everyone always thinks they are about 2 months younger than they are but I think because they have very little hair and really large heads(97%) DH is 6'0" he is the tallest in his family and I am the tallest girl in mine so we could have some tall ones growing here now if I could get pant to fit Mollys waist I would be happy.

That was funny! I had to laugh at that one -- I can imagine going to Disney and have some stare with our twins which is very common for all of us. I am only 5'3" and hubby is 6'3 (his family are all tall). I think Justin is going to be about the same as his Daddy. Rianna is going to be around 5'8 to 5'10.

 

My oldest was 95% for everything from day 1, and still is. The twins are now 90% and 75-90% for both weight and height with 29 and 29 1/2 inches at 9 months ... we're going in end of this month to see the 12 month stats. I am 5'9" and my husband is about 6', so not extremely tall.

My oldest was 40 1/2" at age 3, close to outgrowing a Britax Marathon but now happy in her Radian with still about 2-3" of torso height to grow. She had the size of an average 4 1/2 year old, but she's only 3, now 3 1/2.

 

Abby and Lilly were in the 95% from about 1 on! We've always gotten comments on how tall they are....even now in 1st grade theire are only 3 other kids that are as tall or taller then them. Lauren and Madison are tiny both in weight and height.

 

Yep my twins are tall. They both topped in at 40.5in a couple of weeks ago, about the 95% for each. Unfortunately for one of them he is in the much lower percentages for weight so he is a real PIA to buy clothes for. All of my kids have been tall.

 

Yes, my girls (all 3) are tall. At 18mo dd2 was 34.5" & dd3 was 33.5". I'm 5'8" & dh is 6'3". His dad is 6'8"! I think we may be growing our HS basketball team.

 

My girls are tall. At their 2 year appointment, Elizabeth was 38" tall and Grace was 36" tall -- and I think they have grown more since then. They do not get their height from me (5'1") or DH who is 5'10". But, a couple of DH's brothers are tall and my Dad's side of the family is tall. My brother is also 6'2" so the tall genes are in there. They just skipped me. I bet they will both outgrow me when they are about 10 years old.

 

DH's family is tall - DH is 6'4" and his sister is close to 6'.

At their 2-year checkup, Nicholas was a little over 36lbs and a little over 36". Jon was about 35" and 28-1/2 lbs.
