Does anyone give goats milk?

With all the controversy over cows milk and soy milk I've been looking for a better source of calcium for my girls. I've been reading up on goats milk and like the things I've been finding out. I was wondering if anyone here gives goats milk to there children? How does it taste, does your children drink it without a problem? Why did you decide to give goats milk instead of cow and soy milk? Thank you

My SIL gives her 11 month old goat milk with his oatmeal in the morning. I am planning to go to goat milk as soon as we get the o.k. from our ped to switch from formula. We are behind on our 1 year apt. We go in next week. The one thing my ped said about it was that I might need to get fortifying drops to add iron to the goat milk because it lacks. No problem. I have a friend in CO that has goats and she supplies mom's after they stop BF their babies. She gets a lot of inquires. My grandfather was raised on goat’s milk since he was born 2 pounds back in the early 1900 and they just sent him home with his mom whose milk never came in. He lived to be 83.

 

We had a farm when I was a kid and I know I've had raw goat milk. My mom says we weren't picky so we had milk from the cow when she was producing or milk from the goats when she wasn't.

I'd prefer to give the boys raw goat's milk (or llama, for that matter) rather than the processed stuff in the plastic jugs at the store but it's illegal to sell raw milk in TN so I either have to drive to another state to get it or get animals and milk them myself. Needless to say, I'm motivated to keep breastfeeding for a while.
