Does anyone else use Child Harnesses?

I just ordered two from Wal-Mart, they are really cute! They are Monkey's and they are backpacks, with a leash like thing coming from the back of them to put around the parents wrist. This is going to be so awesome! I will actually be able to take them on walks without them running off from me! My guys DO NOT listen, and are constantly running off if someone isn't holding their hand, but they twist and turn and get loose from us. I saw these and thought this was my best option! Especially since I will be taking them to the zoo next month!!

Thoughts on these? Do they really work that well?

LOVE THEM!!! We have the same ones, I got them at Target...same thing though. We've gone to the zoo with them, the mall, and around the neighborhood. My girls LOVE them too. We keep them in the house and they will bring them up to us saying, " backpack, backpack" until we put them on!

I have them and have used them once. I normally just use the stroller, but my mom insists on letting them out when we are in stores (lets one out when I'm not paying attention, then the other has to get out when they see sissy/bubby walking around). I really have to remember to bring the harnesses with me when I shop with her. They are really good at first and will hold our hands, but then they start trying to run around and by the end they are crying and throwing fits. Funny how this never happens when I'm the one taking them shopping. I'm mean and never let them out of their strollers!

We love ours. They are great for keeping them together. Murphy's law is 2 toddlers cannot walk in the same direction!

We absolutely LOVE ours, too. We've used it at the park, the mall, etc. It gives them a lot more freedom. They both get excited whenever they see them because they know it means that they get to go out and walk and explore. I highly recommend them. Have fun!

I am so glad to hear all the good about them! I figure I will love them just as much for the same reasons. The stroller use to be good, but they are way to big for it now... :( They crawl in and out of it as I am pushing them, yes, even though they are strapped in!

The Harnesses are going to be a hit!! I can't wait!!

Love ours too! Our girls like them, even when we are home just to play with.

I bought the regular first years harnesses since they are mostly for the amusement/water park and I figured the backpack ones would be too hot. We've used them several times just wandering the park but today for the first time in the water! I took all five alone so I needed to keep the twins from taking off in different directions! They are awesome!

We got these, one monkey and one doggie, they love them but not for their original purpose. When I tried to use them, girls were around 1yr, it would just make them fall on their bums. They were worth it though as they love to play with them, especially the straps, they can be occupied for about an hour learning how to put them back together. I also give them little things to put in the zipper part that keep them occupied. They have made grocery shopping and Dr's waiting rooms so nice :a_smil09:

my parents bought 2 that also double as shopping cart harnesses....I haven't used them yet (as the kids are still just too young to walk on their own even though they're getting better about walking) but I'm all for it!

We have them and have been using them for about a year now. Practice with them before you actually need to depend on them. I found the best way to keep my boys from dividing and conquering was to tie the "tails" together about 2/3 of the way up the strap. Up being the end that goes on my wrist. I make them hold each other hand as well, we call it safety first watching out for your buddy. They are now 2.5 and it is easy peesy.

I use my for our walks around the block - the girls can explore but I can keep them out of the road. No matter how much I yell at the teenage drivers in my neighborhood, they still drive too fast. The harnesses allow my girls the freedom to pick up acorns, smell flowers & kick the leaves without the freedom to dash into the road. I want to add a caution - my niece has one of these & my sister would hang it on the coat rack by the garage door. My niece went to wait by the door while my sister got her shoes on & she had wrapped the strap around her neck & couldn't get it off. I take my straps off & keep them high on a shelf when they are not in use.

It's nice to hear so many good comments about them. We have asked for them for the kids birthday.

They didn't work out for me. i used mine twice, my kids would just sit down every time I put them on. I guess it depends on the kids.

Just a note. My two are three and I don't need the harnesses at all now, so have hope that your two will soon stick together! Awesome they work for you.

I have been really curious about these too. I am mean and won't let the boys out of the stroller, but they get so cranky being strapped in all the time.. I have been a little hesistant though because a lot of people seem to be of the opinion that the harnesses are demeaning, and have really negative things to say about them. I'm guessing they have never had twins though.

I can remember being about 14 or so and seeing someone with their kids on a LEASH. I was absolutely appaled and silently vowed to NEVER treat my kids like dogs.

Fast forward 16 years...I am considering purchasing these as well. I am always alone with the kids when out (okay, 95% of the time). They really want to get out and run around and I can't let them do that safely on my own. I got a little twinge of jealousy while out with my sister and her 14-month old just letting her get out and wander around and was able to just shadow her movements. I think we'll try them in a few months to give the boys a little more freedom when it's just mom.
