Does anyone else have this?

    Hi ladies,

Hope everyone's pregnancies are going great. I have a somewhat embarrassing question but I have to ask... Very early in my pregnancy I started having pain on the left side of my groin area. The pain kept getting worse through the pregnancy. Now I am at week 28.5 and the pain is excruciating when I shift weight. It completely incapacitated me, I cannot walk and even just getting out of bed for a bathroom break is a colossal and very painful challenge. My OB says that it will go away after I give birth but she cannot tell me what it is (one theory of hers is that this is a pinched nerve, but she says it is just a guess). She says it is not a round ligament because that would be more on the side, and my pain is on the bottom. Does anyone else have this? If so, do you happen to know what it is? If you had this during your pregnancy and you gave birth, did the pain go away? Thanks everyone... I am really freaked out by the intensity of the pain...

I haven't had that pain specifically but it does sound like a pregnancy induced condition. I get pain in what feels like the section where ligaments attach to the skeletal part of my groin it's kinda an achy pain.

Sorry that is happening but great job so far!

I remember feeling like I had been kicked in the groin by a horse. Some days I would be ok and then for a few days in a row it would be so awful. Even getting out of bed hurt. I did go to the Chiropractor that seemed to help a bit. Since their birth, the pain has gone away, only to show up once or twice. I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but my twin pregnancy was filled with so many pains...it was nothing like my singleton pregnancies. I hope you can get some relief soon.

Can you tell if there is anything poking out in that area? Sounds exactly like what I had on my right side. Come to find out later, it was a hernia that pregnancy ripped worse and I had to get it fixed. It got better after pregnancy, but it flared up off and on after that until it was fixed. It can be extremely painful, especially the further along u get!

I had that exact pain throughout my pregnancy at different points. It was completely pregnancy related and was totally gone after the twins were born. Being pregnant with twins hurts!! Trust me, you'll forget all about those pains once you hold your babies! :D

    Take care!

Maybe a little farther forward than what you're describing, but I think my pelvis separated a lot more than it should have. It hurt like you said and made it impossible to walk sometimes. If I sat down and pressed my knees together hard, I could feel it pop. It got better after having the girls, but would still bother me some and pop like that for about 6 months.

With one of my singleton pregancies, bubs was on my sciatic nerve for a week or two, which ran down my left thigh. I couldn't put any weight on it at all, it would literally collapse under me.

That's exactly what it feels like, like being stabbed, the pain is so sharp and strong! It is such a relief to hear that yours went away, it terrifies me to think that I would have to live with this pain! I will hang in there and wait for my sweet little ones, I will live with the pain as long as I have to if they just stay put and come out when they are good and ready, happy and healthy.

Thank you everyone for your encouraging replies, your support means more to me than you could ever imagine.

I have it too, except on my right side. I had it with my first baby girl as well!! I think it's SPD (symphasis pubic dysfunction). Does it HURT to stand up and put on pants? How bout rolling over in bed? I don't think much can be done for it other than Tylenol but look it up. In the meantime, sit down when you're putting on your clothes!

OMG, that is exactly it! Pain is excruciating when I try to stand up or shift weight in any manner, like rolling over in bed or shifting from one foot to another. I am taking Tylenol regularly now just to take the edge off the pain. And yes of course I have to sit down when I put on clothes, no way I can do it standing up any more, hurts too much! Please tell me yours went away after you gave birth, Becky Lynn!

I have terrible side pelvic pain at times- usually when I over do it- too much walking and/or standing or if I pick up objects that are too heavy. I hope you feel better soon or at least it goes away after pg. Best wishes!

I had a similar pain in the side of my groin and my OB sent me to a PT to get evaluated to see if I was in alignment, due to pregnancy imbalances, hormones, etc. The PT suggested some exercises and some pool time with another PT, or just swimming on my own. If your insurance would offer coverage, I'd suggest that route. Or, just floating in the pool is absolutely fabulous on it's own and gives your body a break from all the pressure/weight!
