Does anyone else *HATE* feeding solids?

I hate feeding solids. I really do. I do it because I have to, but I really don't enjoy it. Getting them in the seats, feeding, cleaning, ect. takes so long and it just seems monotonous. I could easily move my babies up to 3 meals a day instead of two, but I just can't bring myself to do it yet! I love bottle feeding them and most other parts of motherhood, but I have an irrational dislike of feeding solids.

Anyone else? Or what part of the day do you dislike?

I hated baby food, period. Everything about it! Hang in there, because in the 2nd year they will start feeding themselves and that makes things so much easier! Really it became so much easier for me once they were done with baby food!

Aimee is right. I know I enjoyed feeding them better when they could start to feed themselves. Hang in there, Momma!

Yes, I feel the same way--and felt bad for feeling that way!! It just adds so much more stress to the day---trying to get it all done just gets so overwhelming, especially when they are napping when I usually feed them or they just odn't want to eat. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

I don't mind feeding solids. When we first started them a week and a half ago, it seemed kind of annoying but now we've kind of gotten into a groove with it. They have fun most of the time because we are talking to them the whole time. I do make my husband help with it so it is not an overwhelming thing. We use the bumbo seats and do it in the living room on the floor. I know it sounds bad, but I like having the TV on in the background. The thing that I don't like to do is the baths. The set up, the mess, water everywhere, the cleanup after and my husband will do anything to get out of helping with that. I'm glad we only have to do it every couple of nights.

I never really enjoyed it either. It does get a bit easier when they can start feeding themselves. But, to be honest, mealtime is still the worst time of the day for me.

I was never a big fan of that stage either!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I've only given them cereal twice so far because I am having trouble getting motivated. I'm seriously considering just asking my nanny to do it since she's with them all day. The few hours I'm with them are crazy enough as it is and feeding solids just adds one more thing to the list that seems alot more difficult than just letting them breastfeed.

    Thanks for posting!

I don't mind it too much because it's a good distraction when they are fussy. It's the cleanup that I don't like. We are doing 2 meals a day, plus a snack. I'm liking it better now that they can feed themselves finger foods.

I don't mind the actual feeding, though one DS more swims in his cereal rather than eating it, but the setup and cleaning is such a pain! I estimate from clean babies to clean and fed babies it takes about 2-1/2 hrs, ugh. And that's only if things are all clean from the feeding the day before. It includes making and feeding cereal and a veggie puree (store-bought for the moment), giving each a bath, washing their helmets then cleaning up all the incredible mess. When I started two weeks ago, I'd been planning on doing it every day but I had my sister here to help then. Now that I'm alone again, it's just not something I want to do. They're getting most of their nutrition from my breastmilk anyway, right?
