Okay, I'm a little confused. I had my bi-weekly doctor appointment yesterday, and the doctor said that Zoe (Baby A) is a little bit behind in growth, at 32% --she is 1 lb. and Payton (Baby B) is just over 50% at 1 lb. 3 oz. I am now 22 weeks 4 days along in the pregnancy. My OB said that it is probably nothing to be concerned about, that it is probably just because they are twins and a lot of times there are size differences between the two. What does all this mean? I don't think I should be too concerned, but I'm just curious what other folks think about it, using your personal experience. Thanks!

Oh, and at my next appointment, in two weeks, I will get tested for gestational diabetes. He is also going to do a fetal fibronectal test to check for pre-term labor. I guess that is a test he will start doing on a fairly regular basis at this point in the pregnancy, just because of the high risk factor for PTL. Anyone else have this test?

Thanks, ladies! I really appreciate any feedback you can give me.

    Have an awesome day!

I would agree with your Dr., mine measured differently at points throughout the pregnancy & ended up being born at 6lbs & 4lbs 11oz & both perfect :)
Good luck at your next appointment :good:

my last appointment i was 23 weeks and my baby a weighed ina t 1lb 5 oz and my baby b weighed in at 1lb 2oz. so its okay i would think to be a few oz smaller or bigger. i go to a high risk specialist and i think if it was a big deal she would have said something. good luck!!! :D

I agree, mine always seems to measure differently. I know it's hard not to worry though.

:good: Another one with the same thing! My two measured differently from about 20 weeks on. If your doctor isn't concerned, I wouldn't be either.

Good luck at your next appointment!

Mine measured differently starting around 20 weeks as well -- my doc said he'd be concerned if there was more than a 20% difference, but was not too worried since they have their own sacs. To date, my girls keep flip-flopping in their weights -- one is heavier at one appt, the other at the next!

Re: FFN test -- I had it done the last 2 times I went to the hospital (both times it came back negative -- yay) -- supposedly if it's positive there's a 12% chance of you going into labor soon. That was the number my doc gave me, but I have heard different percentages. It's not a very high chance to begin with, so i'm not sre why this is sch a routine test....

I had my last ultrasound at 22 weeks and 3 days. My guys weighed in at 15 oz and 1 lb 1 oz. The peri didn't seem at all concerned with the difference and my regular OB said their weights were right about where they needed to be.

I'm showing my ignorance, but I don't know what 32% and 50% mean, because no doctor has ever talked to me in terms like that. They mostly use terms like "look good". ;)

I go for another growth scan next Thursday, so I'm anxious to see how much weight they've put on. They're moving around like crazy and it sure feels like they've packed on some pounds (or at least ounces) =D

If your twins are di/di I don't think it's anything at all to worry about as long as your Dr. is checking for possible problems (especially if they end up being fraternal, they are different people w/different genetics). Only reason to be concerned would be if they are mono/di, reason due to possible various placenta issues.

My girls also measured differently! they only got concerned when Addison had a low fluid level on top of being smaller.
