do your twins eat at the same times everyday?

My twins are just about 3 months old now. They are sleeping through the night from about 10-7am. They usually have their 1st bottle around 7:30am and then they eat usually every 3 to 3 1/2 hours still. They have a 4 hour stretch after their second bottle. I don't mind them eating every 3 hours but it never really seems consistent. I would like them to go 4 hours if possible (I know they can do it). How do I start them eating at specific times (say 7:30, 11:30, 3:30, 7:30). Right now they take their last bottle around 9pm and are hopefully sleeping by 10pm. How do I hold them off til the 4 hour mark without them being so fussy/crying? I know they are not starving, they eat at least 6oz every time.

My boys are about 4 months old non-adjusted and they are doing about the same sleep wise and feed time wise. However, I wish I could get them to bed as early as yours! From what I've read, they tend to space their feedings out on their oun, naturally. You say they sometimes go four hous? I believe they will increase the number of four hour feeds as time goes by. That 3 1/2 hour feed schedule is good timing for theis ages... good luck! [IMG]

I think we were always at 3 hour feeding at that point- still are at about 3 1/2 hours during the day. Sometimes if they nap at a funny time they'll go 4 1/2 hours. If they are both awake at the same time and hungry they'll eat at the same time. My guys normally wake about an hour apart in the morning- but by midday they are on the same schedule and always eat their last meal together.

HI Kerry!! Fancy seeing you over here!! (cdh from WB) LOL
I have my boys on that exact schedule 7:30, 11:30, 3:30 and 7:30 then to bed. We were on a 3 hour schedule and we gradually would increase the time in between feedings. Say instead of 3 hours we would go 3 hours and 15 minutes, and we kept this up until we were on every 4 hours. It took some time, but we got there!!
    Good luck!!

Hi cdh...I'm glad you found us over here! lol! Thanks for the advice, I think I will try the gradual increase. I know they can do it, DS is just very impatient when it comes to his bottle..when he wants it, he wants it now! lol. They generally have 5 bottles a day which I think is just fine. I just put them to bed at 8pm tonight because they had their 5th bottle at 7:30pm. DS is not asleep yet I can hear him on the monitor but it will be interesting to see how long they go tonight!

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully I can get them to 4 hours by 4 months!

I didn't move to a 4 hour feeding schedule until 6 months. Mine ate every 3 hours right on the nose. We did 7, 10, 1, 4, 7 and then bed with 6 oz bottles. Now they actually eat a little less formula and more solids.

    Good luck [IMG]

4 hours!?? wow! I haven't had my twins yet, but with my singletons they ate every 2 hours for a year! lol!! I know I was Breastfeeding which makes a difference, but oh what a dream a 3-3 1/2 hour scheduel would be! oh well. my only advice is to gradually increase until they're on the scheduel you want.
    good luck! [IMG]

My boys have been on every 4 hours, 6, 10, 2, 6 since they were 6 weeks. When we switched them from 3 to 4 hours, we did it by 5-10 min increases every day. It worked for us. now they have been on this schedule for a while and although they can go longer, (they sleep from 7.30pm-6am every night and have since they were 10 weeks) I dont let them during the day cos I want them to get their calories. I wake them up during the day for their scheduled feed and that way they go to bed at the same time every night without fail. Good luck! I do know a lot of people who are still feeding every 2.5-3 hours well into their 8th month though so you're doing great!

sounds like they are pretty normal then. I had assumed they would be at 4 hours by now! I am going to try and get them on specific times at 3 hour intervals and then increase it bit by bit. They seem to be getting up at around 7am so hopefully I can start the day at 7:30am and go from there. My DS eats more than DD so hopefully that doesn't throw everything off. DD is just a small eater (4-6oz) where DS eats 6oz everytime and will even do 7oz on occasion. DD seems to be happy with her 4oz so as long as she is happy and growing that is fine by me!
