We are going on vaca in 2 weeks and the condo has no real bathtub...its a very 70's looking/Burt Reynolds in a white cowboy hat wearing whirlpool tub..Its red!! I have a feeling they will be afraid of it.

I think they will be afraid of showers too....should I give them a couple before I go, or just wing it, and hope they dont mind Burt Reynolds?? LOL.

Mine do. I think we started around 2.5. They were a little frightened at first so I would try some at home.

mine LOVE to take showers with mama or dada - but won't do it on their own. alisha was a little scared at first, but now likes it and cameron loved it from day one because he got to splash in the water :).

OK, I probably sound like a freak, but I still bathe my kids in these big tubs like you put drinks in at a party or wash the dog in. I think I have a picture... Here's one from last year.
We have only a shower stall and a jacuzzi tub in our house. I just don't see bathing them in the tub, it's just awkward and not easy to access, I don't know how I would bathe them and keep them safe.
You could get one of these tubs for the trip, they are pretty cheap.

My big boys take showers. It is a new thing though. William runs in and out, happy as can be, Nathan takes a little more convincing.

My boys love the shower. It was an accident... I NEVER seem to get a shower. So one day I was desparate and decided to take one while they were there next to the shower playing... They all unexectedly wanted to get in with me... OK, so I let them in thinking I can get a longer shower that way and we have a large shower. Well, now they call it warm rain and want to dance around in it and play with my hair while I have it all sudsy with shampoo... making mohawks and horns etc with my shampoo- filled hair. Now they cry when i do not let them in with me... I would say if you want them to continue baths at home, do not try to get them in the habit of showering at home. Make it a "well, we did that (took showers) because we were not at home" deal. Make it a SPECIAL TREAT.

Mine never have but they do go under the sprayer to rinse off after their bath. They recently told me that they would like to try taking a shower when they are 5 (2 months away). Maybe if they are afraid of the tub you could put on a bathing suit and jump in the shower with them. And, who knows, maybe the red tub will intrigue them.

Mine take them when we go to the pool b/c that's what they have in the ladies locker room at our CC. They didn't like it last year, but this year that do. I don't give them showers at home though.

Mine do both. If we are in a hurry and want to bathe them quickly we will give them showers but if we have time at the end of the night they get baths so they can play when they're done being washed. My dh actually puts on a bathing suit sometimes and gets in the shower with them (so you could try that if you think they would be scared). I would also try it at home first to see how they react. Katrina loves showers and Kira rather take a bath. We still wash them no matter what they do so I don't see it as a big deal if they want one or the other.

This summer (age 3.5yrs) they have taken to loving showers. They rarely take baths anymore.

We started showers after they had a great time in the yard spraying each other with the hose. I had a nozzle on for watering the garden and they learned quickly how to operate it. They took to it immediately and suddenly it's OK for water to pour over their faces :) I'd try it at home and see what happens.

Mine will take both. Be warned though that the shower gets slippery. The first few times I put a towel down on the floor of the shower. We have a huge walk-in shower so they don't have to be under the water at all times.

At our old house that had a stall shower, Jason fell on his way out & sliced himself right under the chin. He had to have it glued shut because they couldn't put stiches in it.

Even my almost 7 year old still prefers a bath to a shower. I think she took her first shower around 4.5 years old. But I would try a few at home first before you go.
