Do your toddlers snore?

At first, I thought snoring was normal. Then, I was reading Dr. Weisbluth's book Healthy Sleep habits and it talked about snoring in children and how it can be linked to poor sleep and subsequent behavior issues. Well, my children are awful and not great sleepers. I mean they sleep but don't seem well rested. They both snore. I also work for an ENT office and see children on the schedule for snoring. I'm probably going to bring the boys in and have the docs check their adenoids and tonsils. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences.

It doesn't seem like it's normal to me, either, but dd snores. It's on my list to ask the dr about at their next checkup.

I have one that snores horribly. She got her tonsils out about 7 months ago and the doctor told me that would solve the problem. I asked him about her adenoids also..but he said she didn't need those out. Now 7 months later and she still snores...doesn't get very good sleep, and is having behavior problems. I am frustrated that the ENT didn't do something about it when he could.

I am planning on taking her back for a check up..because it seemed that her snoring stopped a little while after her tonsil surgery, but is back to the same now. :(

Just a reminder to make sure if your child has to get her tonsils out..get their adenoids out too...

Yes, my DD snores. She is also a mouth-breather. We had her adenoids removed at 20 mos, which was supposed to fix it. It didn't. Now they say it's because her tonsils are too big, and that they need to be removed. We're waiting a while on that one.

Jon used to snore like a freight train. He had his tonsils and adenoids out at a little over 3 years, and hasn't snored since--unless you count the occasional cold.

I just called the ENT today as a matter of fact. My mom told me to a few weeks ago, and then I read another post on here about kids having their adenoids out. I am getting Camden checked. When he was a newborn I had to sleep with him in the living room and let him sleep in a bouncy seat so he could breath. Pedi blamed it on his formula...he has never been able to breath right out of his nose. Last spring, Pedi put him on zertec...still all winter, he breaths out of his mouth, his nose always seems full, runny, stuffed, etc.

I have been really paying attention to him sleeping, mouth always open to breath, wakes up here and there mumbling about his nose being stuffed. He has never been a good eater, never putting two and two together about how that affects his taste.

I finally bypassed the pedi and am going to ENT next week.

Caleb used to snore like a bear. He did get his tonsils out and it did solve the problem. I completely believe that he was not getting good sleep. And that did affect everything he did daily. He was just burned right out. Poor guy. Definately worth checking into. Think about how much better we feel when we get a good nights sleep. It can change your whole outlook!

Wow! Thanks everyone. I had convinced myself I was a nutcase for thinking this. Now, I feel there may be hope. I completely lost it today their behavior is just so horrible and they are seemingly overtired all the time despite sleeping.
