My two have decided that their mode of communication is screaming A-L-L THE TIME!!!! I am about to lose my mind!

They are not upset, they just like to screech and scream all the time. They love it and will scream back and forth with each other and I rarely hear them use a normal tone of voice lately. I try to talk very quietly to them, say shhhh quiet, and such but 18 month old kids just look at me and scream back then laugh. I think they know they are tormenting me!!!! I'm going crazy!!! :shok: 8P

We have had some serious screaming and shrieking going on over here to, especially when they get excited about something. Not sure where it is coming from!! LOL :)

mine follow what i do.. if i say look at m y nose.. they do.. ill say whisper in a soft voice.. they do that..

if they talk to me in the wrong tone.. i address that too.. ie IM COMMING MOM. not even loud.. just the wrong tone..

in the car i whisper or sing.. in public we whisper.. outside we shout..

yes.. they do like to screech but i put a limit on.. it..

OMG yes yes yes! My boys will start a screamfest over nothing! It drives me NUTS. But it IS getting better. If they do it at the dining table I will remind them ONCE. If it happens again, I will take them down and all done eating. They do not like that so I think that is helping some. It does not help here when dd gets into it too. that really makes me go over the edge

How? my two literally laugh at me when I whisper. They think it's funny. I've tried that. My first two responded to modeling like that but not these two. Then they feed off each other too. IT just seems to get louder and louder as the day goes on. (either that or my patience is getting thinner and thinner!)

They are usually good listeners. they have recently started responding to me. gentle, be nice etc and they do. for some reason they are just not getting the volume thing.

Yep. They scream. And if they aren't screaming, then they are whining.

Mine definately thought this was the best means of communicating at that age. Now, they still scream all the time, but it's because they are annoying each other!
