My girls LOVE, LOVE, LOVE did I say LOVE sour cream - all by itself. They will gobble it by the spoonful - if we go to the Mexican restaurant - all they want is SOUR CREAM! no food! I was just downstairs washing a load of clothes , came back up to hearing little voices saying mmm mmm mmm - they had gotten in the fridge and were eating SOUR CREAM!!!! YUK!!!

Do your kids like anything crazy like this?

Are we related? I was crazy about sour cream as a kid too!

My kids adore coffee and tea. And by coffee, I mean rich, strong, French roast, black coffee, no sugar or anything. They will beg and beg for it. Sometimes I give them just a tiny taste, or if it's decaf, let them have a few little sips. They'd drink a whole cup if I let them! They're also really into (unsweetened) herbal tea. Lately they love Lemon Zinger and Bengal Spice (a really yummy all-herbal version of chai).

Hahaha, that's funny! My girls will eat sour cream too. Sometimes they really surprise me with the strange things they'll eat.

Mine eat sour cream too. They will just dip their fingers in it and eat it.

heh, funny you should mention it amyntony. . .

Royce has decided that he too loves raw onions. I couldn't get him to stop eating them yesterday!
His favorite foods are: tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, cherry/grape tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, roasted peppers, lima beans, okra, artichokes, and now onions.

Alice tried Feta cheese yesterday too and loved it. Not that any of the foods are weird overall, but they're 2! I would expect goldfish crackers, cheese, hotdogs, grilled cheese at this age. Not that I'm complaining about the fact that they both eat veggies.

Oh and I was a sour cream freak when I was a kiddo. I still love it on steak.

Cream cheese here (well, my boys like it). The boys have cream cheese and butter sandwiches all the time.

Meghan likes Fluff. If I let her, she would eat just Fluff sandwiches...I make her have peanut butter in them, too.

Cricket is a sour cream fan too. Taco nights are her favorite because she'll put a dollop of sour cream on every bite. Piper prefers butter, and begs to be allowed to eat it straight. In addition to those, my kids both also love fairly spicy salsa, which to me is a bit weird for two year olds.

I am glad my two are not the only ones who eat something I would not think little ones would! I have just as an adult developed a taste for sour cream and that is ONLY on some foods never by itself! The waiters at our favorite Mexican restaurant bring the girls those cute small taco salad edible tortilla bowls full of sour cream!!

and raw oinions???? OMG! I would NEVER think a kid would touch that with a ten foot pole!! Black coffee and herbal tea without sugar?? WOW! and cream cheese? that stuff is not what I would think a kid would like either - and when you say butter - like yellow butter and cream cheese or peanut butter?

We have all kinds of weird (for kids) food tastes around here. Jacob loves coffee (decaf), too, Holly! And Jack loves "salad" - spinach with feta cheese and raw onions, smothered in olive oil. They would both inhale those items all day if I let them!

Tatiana loves sauerkraut, olives, raw white onions, lamb, tomatoes, green beans. I'm sure there are more that I can't remember.

They don't like pepperoni pizza, but they LOVE pizza with spinach on it! They love going to Cici's because they can get "green pizza!"

My guys have the same odd food preferences. Both prefer stong flavors so yeah, they eat a lot of things that seem to surprise people. They'll pick the wild onion tops in the yard and eat them and the more garlic, the better! Sour/tangy things like Granny Smith apples, sour cream, or even lemon wedges are also relished. They'll try anything. I crack up watching other people watch them inhaling their plates full of the weirdness they've selected at the Chinese buffet... mussels, octopus, frog legs, seaweed & calamari salad, hot & sour soup... you name it, they'll eat it. They ask me what it is and I'm honest. They say, "OK" and stick it in their mouths.

The one food they don't like and have consistently refused to eat is mashed potatoes. They'll eat the ones I make (loaded with garlic and a good amount of sour cream and smashed more than mashed so they have a chunky texture) but the plain or whipped kind is refused every time. They're hit & miss on french fries but will gorge themselves on onion rings or fried mushrooms.

I've heard that the bland food preference is because those things are generally not poisonous so humans evolved with a tendency for kids to want those safe foods. I guess my kids would have been weeded out

Ditto my P and P too! And they love baby octopus. They are willing to try almost anything. But my little C, would like to live off of PB &J with grapes.

Not that this is a contest but I so win.
Ezra splashes vinegar into his palm at restaurants and licks it up...over and over and over again.
He also likes eating lemons. He'll take a bite, make a disgusted face and then take another bite.

Although those raw onion kids are also impressive.

My oldest son loves raw onions. He will eat them like an apple :bad: . I don't know where he gets this from because I hate onions but he is a kid who will pretty much eat anything. This is a problem sometimes because he eats things that he shouldn't like last night when he ate half a tube of polysporin cream :headbang:

I knew there was one I forgot. I made myself grilled salmon for lunch with salad and sweet potato and I made the kids baked fries and nuggets. Tatiana ate half of my salmon. She loves it.

I don't eat sour cream very often so I have never given it to any of my children! Maybe I should!

    Yes, my kids love:
    pickles
    Artichoke
    lobster
    salmon
    beets
    edamame
    raw lemon
    sushi

    Slugs. Raw.

One of my girls loves the feel and texture of slugs. She would hunt them out in the yard and play with them until they were dead. Then she decided it might feel good in her mouth too. And it did! :shok:

So she doesn't really eat it but just keeps it in her mouth until it is too warm and gross and then spits it out. The older kids thought she was just kissing them and it slipped until they realized she was doing it over and over.

(Don't worry this only lasted about two weeks. Now she just plays with them again.)

Ok, the other night we had sloppy joes for supper (w/pickles). DH mentioned pickle juice at the end and of course all the kids heard was juice. C tried it and gave that whole body shake you do when you eat/drink something that was odd. Then A wanted some. SO she tried it and then said "Yummy!" and proceded to finish the glass and asked for more! LOL So, pickle juice.

Arwen would eat spoonsfuls of plain butter if I let her (well margerine actually, we don't use butter). It makes me want to vomit. I will now and then let her scoop her finger and take a bite but :bad: I could seriously hurl watching her eat it.
