Do your 3 YOs talk like this?

Trent told me this morning that he wants me to make his tricycle into a unicycle. He pointed out the big wheel and pedals and said, "This... only this part... take this part off (pointing to the the rest). Don't want tricycle, want it be unicycle like on TV." He's remembering a Pixar short with a clown riding a unicycle and now he wants a unicycle. I told him that he needs to learn to ride a bicycle first and then a unicycle but he insists he's ready to start learning NOW.

He also noticed the ceiling damage from a leak last Spring in the master bath (we haven't bothered fixing it since it will be replaced during the remodel this Fall). He looked at it for a minute and then told me, "Uh, oh... ceiling has an owie right there. Water came down down down and got it all wet and it broke right there. I think maybe Daddy need put tape on it. Yeah, I think tape can fix it make it all better." I asked him and DH said he'd told Trent that the ceiling broke because it got wet from the rain. The tape bit was possibly from Trevor tearing his coloring page and I fixed it with tape.

These are typical conversations for both. I don't have any other kids to compare. Normal? Not normal?

The unicycle thing sounds a little advanced since he just turned 3, but the owie on the ceiling sounds about right for that age. They are definitely going to start saying things they hear you say at this age, so be careful. They are getting better at relating things from one situation to another. Have fun!

From my limited knowledge (and especially my limited knowledge of boys), I'd say they sound normal-to-advanced for their age. Amy talks more or less like that, but I get the sense (from what other parents have told me) that she's a precocious talker -- Sarah doesn't talk nearly that well.

My daughter talks like that. Based on her conversations, I always say normal to advanced for her. My son, normal 3 year old stuff.

He sounds normal 3 to me.
    Very cute and just fine.
Soon you'll get the runon sentences they are doing now.

" Sophie, you gonna fall down and broked your head open and you'll hafta go to the hopital and they'll hafta put a needle in your bottom and I'll cry forever" (twin was standing on the crossbar of the swingset)

They are a lot of fun at this age.
I keep saying that, maybe they are a lot of fun all the time.
