this thought was brought on by another mum's thread about their baby being a wild sleeping and putting their legs through the slats of their crib.

my boys arnt rolling yet, but once they do i will be torn between weather or not to do this....

so my question is, once their asleep do you check on them?
and if so, do you pick them up and move them if they look uncomfortable (or they are laying on their blankets, legs hanging through the slats ect)
or do you leave them? letting them move themselfs if they are really that uncomfortable...

I use "sleeping bags" it makes sure they have a blanket on them and keeps them warm. I find it prevents them from rolling around as much and they haven't done the slat thing yet. I have various ones for different temperatures.

Yes, I check on them a couple of times before I go to bed (the girls go to bed at 6:30). If Hannah (Emma never does) has her leg through a slat, I reposition her and she never even knows.

I didn't dare move them until they started to sleep much more soundly, around 9 months. Before they started to roll, I don't think they would have minded if I moved them, but between about 4 months and 8 months their sleep was very light and even walking by their door in our creaky old house could wake them up. That also meant that they woke up pretty quickly if they were uncomfortable, so I didn't need to go up to check them when they weren't awake.

So I guess I would say that you'll have to judge your own babies!

And sleep sacks do help with the foot-through-the-slats problem.

I do check on them before bed but I do not move them that way when they get in a position at night when I myself am sleeping they can get themselves out of it. If they can't they will cry and then I can go in there and fix them.

I'll look in on them ONCE and that's right before I go to bed myself. Never have moved or adjusted them at all. I don't have crib bumpers so their legs are usually through the slats. I figure if they're uncomfortable then they can move. I don't want to 'start something' that I am not going to finish.

I wouldn't rebink, or flip from stomach either... Just not my way to do stuff. I figure they need to figure it out themselves. I do not even have a baby monitor and I shut my door at nite and blast fans. They have STTN since 14 weeks, so I don't worry. I never GET UP to ck on them either.

So far.. So good.. 8 mos old and looking good!

We don't check on them b/c we have a really creaky upstairs and like a pp poster, they are still light enough sleepers that sometimes just walking up to go to bed ourselves will wake them up. We have belly sleepers though and have never had issues with legs/etc. getting stuck in the slats.

I always checked on mine when they were sleeping! As moms it is such a normal thing to do.

I always check on mine before I go to bed. When they were little and they would move themselves up into the corner of the bumper and I would slide them into the middle. However, they always moved right back to that spot. Now that they are older I dont really touch them. They use their bumpers at foot props at night and some of the time their foot is between the slats. I dont move them because I know they can get them out.

I check on them a few times b/f I go to bed. I do not move them though. I might go cover them up or something but that is it.

I look in on them a few times, but I just look. I don't touch. If they are uncomfortable, they'll cry. And Joel's ALWAYS got an arm through the slats.
