I used to workout before I was pregnant. I'd run 3 miles a day, 3 times a week. Plus I would do strength training. Now I just don't have the time or the energy. I work full time, I get up at 6:30, I'm home by 5:30 and the girls are usually in bed by 7:30. DH and I have supper and then I'm wiped out. I just can't bear getting out of bed earlier and I know I could probably squeeze in a workout after dinner/before bed but all I want to do is sit on the couch and veg. I really want to lose the last 15 lbs of my pregnancy weight but I just can't motivate myself to do it. If you exercise how do you fit it in?
I also work out at night. I tried getting up earlier (like 5:45am) but I found that I was just exhausted. The boys are in bed at about 8pm. I work out, then shower. The late exercise doesn't keep me from sleeping. In fact, I find that I sleep better on the nights I work out.
I go to the gym the nights the boys are with their dad or grandparents. I also walk the dog with the boys a lot.
I walk with the boys 1-2 times a day (pushing 70 lbs is a good work out, I think, when I get a good speed going) and I lift two 30 lbs babies all day long. My arms have never been more toned. Other than that, no exercise.
I am right there with you. Unfortunately, I wwould love to work out but I do not. I am just too tired. Throughtout the past six years and four kids, I have joined the gym twice, both times failed since my kids were just too upset in the childcare. I probably shoudl have just stuck it out longer, but after one month and only 15m in workouts - I gave upand quit. Hence, why I still have 30 extra pounds on me since the weight I was before my first child. YIKES!!!!
I take the kids running in the jogging stroller, or I run when DH is home after putting them to bed, or when DH is home I go for a swim at the gym. Sometimes it's hard to get out the door, but I never regret it. It seems crazy, but when you're tired, exercise can really give you more energy.
I run everyday for 50 minutes. I work from home and do have a nanny three days a week for four hours a day and I run right when she gets here. The days she is not here I run in the am before DH leaves for work and on the weekends DH is here so I can run in the morning after we all wake up while he watches the babies. I am sort of an exercise freak so I really do not work well unless I have exercised. I also try to play as much tennis as possible. I used to run with the babies in the jogging stroller but it is just too hot here to do that anymore.
Because of the humidity, I usually pop in a exercise Dvd and exercise for an hour. 30 min brisk walk (walk the pounds away) and 30min pilates. But I can only do this when the twins are napping. On cooler days we go to the park and walk at a brisk pace..
I'm home from my 2nd year from teaching--(will return next year). I run on our treadmill when the boys nap--2miles or I'll take them running in the stroller after the girls get on the bus in the Am--3 miles. I also do sit ups and push ups. Lifting the babies has toned my upper body like never before--it's amazing. I have also signed up for 5k road races to keep me motivated. Once I exercise I mentally and physically feel great and finally after a whole year I'm back to prepreg weight. Of course I have that good ole twin skin that will probably be with me forever!!! Lisa
I joined a gym with great childcare (free) and my husband and I split a personal trainer. I have to go at least twice a week and he wipes me out!
I get up at 4:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and do a 25 minute program on my eliptical machine. Last year my husband and I were running three to five times a week 3 miles or more, but this year I haven't ran since May. just don't have the time.
I get up at 4 AM, walk the mutts, and run 2-3 miles on a treadmill before the kids get up. I did not run for about 9 months after the kids were born, but feel so much better now that I am exercising again.
Oh, God bless you for even trying. It took me over a year of being home with the nuggets and working part-time before I found the energy to join a gym with a friend (a 24-hour one so I could squeeze in time whenever), and shortly after that found out I was pregnant again, and had bleeding issues. What I'd like to do now that we've moved into a house, is get an elliptical machine (which is my favorite) and some freewieghts and set up an area in the basement for working out at home. That way I can get some exercise in in snippets, if needed, without having to leave the house.
I also work full-time outside the home. I get up at 4:30 (T & TH) during the week to either run for 45 minutes or do the elliptical trainer for 45 minutes. I get two more 45 minute work-outs in on the weekends usually while the girls are napping. Of course, my house cleaning suffers a little bit on the weekends because I'd rather work-out during their nap, but eventually it gets done. Plus, during the nice weather months I usually take the girls for 20 minute wagon rides after work...tugging that extra 60lbs counts!! There is absolutely NO WAY I can accomplish exercising after work these days...like you, by the time the girls are in bed I'm ready to eat and crash! Exercise is personally one of my biggest stress reliefs and I'm definitely more sane having it in my schedule.
I walk almost every morning with the girls after their breakfast before it gets too stinking hot. I do about 3 miles right now...would like to be closer to 4 by the end of the year. I also do my Wii Fit a few days a week. I'm determined to use it more starting TOMORROW!
I walk after walking my oldest DD to school. Since Emilie and Trevor are already in the stroller, I just keep on going. I try to do that Monday-Friday. I just signed up for a class started Tuesday called "restore the core" which is supposed to work your midsection and designed for Moms. It will be 2 times a week for 10 weeks. They have babysitting there for $1 per kid.
