do you wait until eyes are being rubbed for naps, or at the first yawn

I was putting my babies down when they started to yawn, and today we've stretche them a bit. The problem is they only last for an hour in their crib, they are still tired, so I switched them over to swings untilt hey are content with their napping. I don't want to do this all the time -- so I'm curious, do you wait for the yawns, or do you stretch it until they are a little more tired?

Neither really. My two yawn even when they're not tired (like when they just woke up) and only DD ever really rubbed her eyes... For me the clear sign is fussiness, but it only got obvious after 4-5 months. Before that, I just put them down after the same amount of time after their nap.

Right now I wait until the one gets fussy and the other will start to rub her eyes thats when they go down. Of course one sleeps good and the other doesn't.

Same here, I always kept mine on a schedule. (or tried to)

I tried a schedule but it did not set until 6 months, like some of the others, mine did not really show consistent tired signs until then. Now I can tell when they get quieter, more fussy, eyes rubbing and yawning.

I don't think I've ever noticed my guys yawning much. They tend to get a certain fussiness in their tone, and sometimes when they are nursing, I see they can hardly keep their eyes open. I will then lay them down in their bassinettes while they are still awake but drowsy. They are getting better and better at knocking off without much help.

schedule here too. It did not take for a while but I made sur enot to vary too much from it anyway. They eventually caught on.
