Do you use blankets?

It's pretty warm here lately so we haven't had the need for the past few weeks, but we were still doing sleep sacks last winter. I don't think mine could keep a blanket on but I haven't given them the chance. Are you using blankets? Pillows? Thanks!

I put blankets on them if I feel like it's a little cool in the house but they kick them off. Hailey has a blanket she must sleep with, lol, but she doesn't cover up with it. She just cuddles with it. Hannah has a very small "lovey" which is a blanket with an animal head. They each have one, but for some reason Hailey prefers her blanket.

We've used blankets forever. They like to cuddle with them. We also have about 3 or 4 small stuffed animals in their cribs.

We use sleep sacks in the winter, just pajamas in the summer. No blankets. I'd be fine with it, but DH is still nervous about it.

Like Beth, we use sleep sacks (the fleece ones in the winter and the cotton ones in the summer) and the kids like them. I would like to use blankets, but also like Beth, my DH is nervous about it, so we are holding off for now. DD does sleep with blankets as loveys.

mine each have a blanket in their bed but do not cover up with them, i think they use them more like pillows. they also each have a larger stuffed animal in their bed, and a couple of toys... lol.

Jackson has one small flannel blanket that he loves and it's the only blanket he will allow in his bed. Jacob has two medium-sized fleecy blankets. The blankets they have are also their "loveys". They don't really cover up with them and if we try to they kick the blankets off. They never liked sleep sacks, so we use footed blanket sleepers in the winter, or socks with long PJs. They never seem to be cold (though it only gets down to around 40ish for a low here).

We use knit blankets, so I don't worry about them suffocating. I gave it to the twins as soon as they could stand because they'd trip in their sleep sacks when they woke up and tried standing in their cribs.

We've used sleeping sacks until this past spring. :pardon: They did their job and we had no need to switch (plus I admit, I was nervous about blankets) Now they use blankets and love them. As for the pillows, we got them pillows at around 2 years of age. We got the very thin ones and they enjoy sleeping on them, but I don't think they would have cared if we didn't get them any.

Thanks for your replies! I'm glad to see others have nervous DHs like mine :) My two both love sleeping with their favorite stuffed animal. I like the idea of the knit blankets, we didn't get enough use out of them when the twins were little. That might be a good way to transition (for me and DH).

Alice and Royce both love their blankets.

Here's a picture of Alice at about 6 months with her blanket at the time. Yeah, she would put it over her face every time she went to sleep. And I would take it off every time I saw it on her. Since then it's gotten better, now they have pillows and blankets and toys and books in their cribs. Oh and binkies.

Alice looks like my Mallory with her blanket. Here is one of Mallory. I admit, I freaked out just a bit to find her like this! She was wearing a helmet at the time so I know it allowed some extra room in that blanket. But she always wants things on her head or around her neck.

My girls have had blankets since they were around 9 months old. They don't necessarily keep them on all night, but they do like to snuggle with them. We haven't given them a pillow yet.

My girls each have a "Blankie" that is more like a lovey. However, now that they just recently moved into their toddler beds they will cover themselves up with the comforter, and they each have a pillow on their bed.

It's HOT here in CA, but mine have blankets in their cribs to snuggle with, they love 'em for this reason:)

We've always had a blanket for them in their cribs - usually something light and really soft. Even with the warm/hot weather we've been having.. I'll still put the blankets in with them, but I won't really cover them with it. They mostly prefer to cuddle with them ^_^ Recently I've noticed Alyssa become attached to hers. Now I call it blankey [IMG]

We also put glow worms and a small plush stuffed animal in with them around 7 months.

We didn't use anything, but foot pajamas this past winter. Around 8 or 9 months I started giving them "crib rats" (Which is Dh's term for these little soft stuffed animal/lovies). We've talked about giving them a blanket in the Fall--they will be about 15 months old. I have these nice comforter blankets that are part of the mini crib bedding I got. I'm not at all worried about that getting wrapped around their necks, so I'll try it first.

Still sleep sacks here! Not planning on switching to a blanket for a while... if anything, they won't be able to climb out of the crib!

  23. I just started putting a blanket on mine once they fell asleep, for the most part they kick them off ( it still makes me nervous , but they are old enough to sleep with one)

Mine have had blankets since they were about 10 months old. They love them. I have nice warm fleece blankets for them. They use them in the winter and summer, because I leave the a/c on. I also just gave them pillows about a month ago as well.
