Do you put their sippy cups in the dishwasher?

We do, we put everything in the dishwasher, valves and all. I use all Playtex sippy cups, and I'm wondering it that's a no no. It seems like several of my lids don't screw on well, and cause leaks. I'm wondering if this is because of the dishwasher....or operator error ;)

    What do you do?

Well, Jennife :p I do and mine leak if I over tighten them. Don't use the heated dry if you can avoid it, I've melted cups before that way. <_<

I put them in the dishwasher and like Jenny mentioned I do the air dry versus heat dry setting.

Compulsive dishwasher user here :) What kid of leaking are we talking? 90% of our sippy cups are 2nd hand so maybe that's it but I don't know that I've ever experienced a truely 100% leak-proof cup. the girls shake any of their cups hard enough & a drip or two will come out, but none of them will just leak because they're not upright...
FWIW- I have a whole house water softener & use natural dish soap, so maybe that makes a difference??

I put them in every day. I've had no issues with leaking. Now they've never been 100% leak proof to me, but at least 90%.

I use the dishwasher. I'm always sure to put them in the top rack.

I put them in on the Pots and pans; heated dry and we don't have leaks... Maybe its the cups, I know certain ones are dw safe.

We usually hand wash them every night but if there is a night that the dishwasher is going to be running we put them in it. We also don't use the heated dry. Mine usually only leak if the valves aren't in tight enough or if they need to be changed. They are also ones that the girls used too.

IF the dishwasher needs to be run??? Ours needs to be run like two or three times a DAY! And yes we put all our sippies in the dishwasher, no matter the kind. We haven't had any leaks from the heat that I've noticed.

We put most of the bottles of the sippy cups in the dishwasher but the valve and sippy lid are hand wash.

Thanks for all the responses...it's not like they leak a lot, but it's not unsuual to see a small puddle if one gets thrown on the floor, and stays there awhile. Maybe I will be more diligent with the valves...we're just over with bottles so it's still kind of new...

Dishwasher!! I hate hand washing!!! I put the valves and their plastic spoons in a bottle/accessory basket on the top rack. I've never noticed any leaking issues.

Sometimes I put them in the washer and sometimes I don't. If it is full I wash them by hand. (We use Platex also).

I dishwash all of the boys sippies etc. I don't do the heated dry tho. I just open the door to air dry (saves energy).
Mine leak after I have had them for a long time and they are just worn out. I use different brands and styles.

they all go into the dishwasher here!!! but esp. since the babies have arrived - if it can't be put in the dishwasher it can't be in my house! :D

Yes, we definitely use the dishwasher. And just to comment in case anyone doesn't do this...please take out the valves when you wash them. Stick them in the silverware part or one of those accessories baskets. My SIL is notorious for leaving the valves in, and they are disgusting. I can't bring myself to tell her flat-out (even though I hint everytime I see them). I take sippies with me when we go over there or they drink out of a straw from my cup. NASTY!!!

Eeeeewww! That's so yucky! I had a friend who did that too. Disgusting. Have you ever tried "helping" wash the dishes after a meal, pull out a valve and say something like, "Wow! I almost forgot to pull out this valve and look at all the gunk behind it..." I know it can be touchy with sister-in-laws, or at least with my own brother's wife... Good luck with that!

To answer the original question, I'm totally a dishwasher woman here! Top rack, valves in the silverware compartment (which is on my dishwasher door). We have six sets of sippies, and with all the germs, I don't feel good about using them until they have been run through the high temp/sanitize wash. I even lowered my top rack to allow room to run our booster seat dishwasher-safe trays through after dinner also! And I guess I waste energy, seeing as how I also use the heated dry. I have never had leaky cups as a result, either. I don't know what I'd do without my dishwasher!
