The room we we are going to use for a nursery had to be remodeled completely before it could be made usable; and it's still not finished! It just lacks a few finishing touches, like the base board painted (there's no way I can get down to that now, so DH will have to) but I am getting so anxious for it to be done. I want to arrange the furniture and put everything away so bad; I am worried it wont get done before they come. It will be cute when it's finished though. The walls are bright green with white trim and wainscoting, and I am going to stencil red and white mushroom around the wainscoting. The crib bedding is white islet, and I have a couple of dark red area rugs. I am going to put Eric Carle (as in the very hungry caterpillar) prints on the walls. What do you think? I was trying to find something neutral, but not boring. So, what do your nurseries look like, or are planning to look like? When did you get it all done, or are you still waiting?

    No!!!!!

 First, we have to finish clearing out the spare bedroom. Then we have to paint it for the big kids. Then we have to move the big kids in (which means disassembling the bunk bed). Then we have to paint the little room for the nursery. THEN we have to move the nursery stuff in!

Now that christmas is over with, and I can find my house again, it's time to get cracking on the big kids room! We are going to paint it blue, not dark but not pastel blue either. And I've decided to do the babies room the same color, originally we were going to do it a different color but for the sake of time, the same color it is! :D

My ds will be 7 and is into transformers, so we have wall clings for him. My dd is 2.5 and loves mickey mouse and tinkerbell, again wall clings for her. And the babies bedding is winnie the pooh, all neutrally colors that'll go nice with the blue we've picked, and I have to see if I can find new wall clings for them!

Funny you should mention themes for the nursery, since DH and i were discussing it just tonight. With my last one i did Winie the Pooh, but we are wanting to do something more " intellectual " for the twins. i thought dinosaurs to start them off learning about natural history, but DH seems to find the claws and teeth too scary for little ones. He wants to do a library theme with huge bookshelves filled with books, which i find a bit too stuffy for a child. At this rate we may not decide on a theme in time for thier birth.

We had it mostly done a couple weeks ago, then finally got the crib from our relatives last week, and DH assembled it on Friday. So now I guess it's *really* done. :) Well, except the wallpaper border; we ran out and haven't had time to order more yet.

I am kinda sorta, not really done... I need to finish up touching up the paint... The dresser/chainging table needs drawer pulls, I need to wash and put up all the rest of the clothes/blankets. It is getting there but finding the energy to finish is the tricky part.. Starting this weekend i have felt like i ran into a brick wall.. I am running out of energy to get stuff don and the fact that they will be here in the next 5 weeks is loooming over me..

ive still don't have my hosptial bag packed either.... Agh!

We are really close to having the nursery completed. We are having boy/girl twins so the walls are painted cream and have black swirls painted and lined with trim around them. I have a cream crib for the girl and a black crib for the boy plus a black dresser. The carpet has been replaced, the room painted, chair rail installed and trim placed. The closet organizer is in place and the curtains have been hung. The furniture has all been installed too. The only thing we are really missing is bedding! I have not found any that I like and it's driving me insane!!!! I think I'm going to have to have it made I guess. Ugh!

Well, first off it sounds like your nursery is going to be really cute!

To make you feel better, I am almost 26 weeks and our nursery is still missing three of its walls! The room is basically stripped down to the studs and we have a hole in the floor that needs to be patched. On the bright side, most of the electric is done.

We are DIYers and my poor husband is stuck doing everything now since I can no longer help. We figure the room will probably be done by the time the kids are ready for college

This is something really starting to stress me out. I am a control freak and since I have no control over our babies births I was hoping to have the nursery done early so I could spend time in there reading and just preparing mentally. We still have to remove everything, work on the floors (they are old plank hardwood), paint and then I can actually get to decorating. I keep begging my husband to just schedule a weekend to overhaul. I am one day shy of 28 weeks and I swear I was just 15 weeks! That is how time is flying - eek! :) Good luck!

DH and i finally compromised last night and decided to use Ice Age as our theme for the nursery. i figure i'm still only 22W, so hopefully we will have time to get it done before the boys come.

That's neat that you are having your boy and girl share a room, but are personalizing it with wall decals. I've wondered how long to have my twins share a room. It's more convenient for them to share for a while than for my dd to share with her new sister.

I totally understand about running out of energy to do the things you need. I kept telling my DH, If you keep procrastinating, I wont be able to help you! And sure enough, we're at that point. <_< I don't have my hospital bag packed either.

Yeah the older two have been sharing ds's room up until now anyways and until the babies are sleeping better...probably once they go into twin beds we'll split them boys/girls!

Wall clings are great because as their interests change, just pull the clings down and replace with new ones! We've had baby looney toons, bob the builder, thomas the tank engine, CARS, and now transformers for ds!

My husband and father painted the nursery this past weekend. They also put up the border we got that matches their bedding. It looks really cute. My dad wanted to paint the whole nursery from ceiling to floor so they did the ceiling, walls, trim, baseboard, window trim. The furniture comes next week. So far the only furniture in their is their bookshelf which my dad made me when I was a little girl. Their closet has been cleaned out and is filling up. I can start organizing it a bit more now the Christmas is over, all the gifts were in there! I'll probably do most of that organizing after my shower which is in 3 weeks!

Mine was done for 1 full week. I SWEAR to the Good Lord - we sold the house 1 week after I finished the final touches on the nursery. We move when I am 38 weeks 2 days pregnant - we will have to start all over again AFTER they are born and AFTER we move.

    UGH!

OH boy! I am having boy/girl twins and my Dh is deployed! He has been gone since Aug 1. He will be home mid feb so I'll be about 34 weeks Everyone asks me about themes. I have nothing! I am mostly hoping that he gets home in time to create a crib so I have somewhere for them to sleep! They are going to share a room.

  25. can those of you that finished your nursery post a pic? I'd love to see them!

We are in the process of beginning the nursery. We are having boy/girl twins and have a 2 bedroom condo! So we have spent the last week getting rid of a lot of furniture and just downsizing. The nursery is finally cleared out and we're ready to paint. We have been shopping for furniture and plan to buy something by the end of the weekend. We plan to keep our twins in the same crib for as long as possible. When they can sit up we plan to get a crib spacer. Once they can climb over that, they will be put in their own cribs. I have just read that they are more secure being close together when their infants.

We bought paint today (light sage green) and DH is going to paint this weekend and I also got those wall decals. You can see them in the boy-bedding pic below. We are just going to add chocolate brown flower decals (with pale pink centers) to tie in the girl bedding. Here are pic's of the bedding we chose:

we finished painting and decorating and setting up furniture in out nursery 4 months ago. we got everything from the shower set up last month the uh day after the shower... my dh seems to be a bit impatient... all ive really done is set up a diaper bag and you know... carried the babies, and suffered through all they had to offer.
anyway, we did the room up in a boy and girl robot pirate theme with pirate dogs and a giant pirate squid on one wall protecting to treasure chests with a nautical themed maple dresser with a ship, compass, and the like carved into it with our last name woodburned in the top just above the ship and just for the hell of it, a couple of rocket ships... you know... since they are ROBOT pirates.
we uh wanted to do something differant.

dh actually painted it all. i told him these were his only babies so he kinda went crazy with it. he also rebuilt and refinished that dresser... we found it in an alley. the ship is original to the dresser, but he woodburned in everything else. i'm really proud of him, he seems to be nesting so much more than me.
