Do you have a sand and water table?

I was just curious if you had a sand and water table. I've heard great things about them, but I've never been a big sandbox fan so I'm a little leary. But we really have no outdoor toys for them currently and I'd like to get them something to play with that doesn't involve having to walk to the park.

If you have one, do your DC's play with it often? Do they enjoy it? Which one do you have? I like that Step 2 one that has an umbrella.

We bought the Step 2 Naturally Playful one (it was like $70 at TRU) with the umbrella. We don't have it set up yet, it's for the girls' birthday which is in 6 weeks....we might get it out this weekend though b/c it's so nice out and all they want to do it be outside. I've heard good things about it on here...I would rather them get all wet than sit in a sandbox and carry it all in in their diapers...lol. But, we are thinking of getting a regular sandbox too. we've found out (since buying the sand/water table) that my girls LOVE, LOVE, LOVe the sandbox next door. So, we might end up with both!

We have the Step 2 Water table and it is fabulous in the backyard. I didn't get the sand/water combo one because i don't want the boys to get messy. My boys like to pour water everywhere. I just can't imagine they mix the sand and water and get on their clothes....The water table was only $29 at TRU. It is a great toy for the summer time.

I can help you with this!!! I have one and just let them play with it for the first time about 10 days ago. It's now ONLY a SAND table! I'll attach the pics to show you why....For sand only or water only I love that it's a table and they have to stand at it! They would sit in it otherwise....

Darn- Diane's pictures don't work for me :( I bet they are funny.

I'm glad you posted about this Susan! I was wondering about them too. I'm a little leary of the sand b/c we took the boys to the Beach a few weeks ago and they kept eating the and!

We have one that I picked up at a garage sale. First, I highly recommend getting one that has a lid and closes. I heard that cats and other stray animals can get into them.

And, yes, my twins LOVE it!! They have lots of fun with it. We try to tell them to keep the water on one side and the sand on the other, but they usually end up combining them so we eventually stopped and just let them have fun. One word of caution - you track a lot of sand into your house. Even if I shake them off, some still seems to end up inside. They get messy, but they sure do enjoy it.

We also have the Step 2 Naturally Playful one and love love love it!!! When the water is warm we use water, otherwise just sand. This has been our most used toy purchase ever. Highly recommended. And good for years and years probably -- the older neighbor kids love to come over and play with it too.

We love ours - we only fill it w/ water - we have a separate sandbox. it's safer than a backyard pool - fun for the whole family :) We have the step 2 one.

We love our Step 2 sand/water table. Unfortunately our umbrella blew away in a storm. We tried the sand/water combo but have found it is best to either have all sand or all water. Right now we just have water. My DS's bring their plastic animals, cars, trains, cups etc and play for a while. I also purchased big paint brushes at the dollar store and they love painting everything in sight with water. I also like being able to cover and secure the top during storms. Worth the investment.
