do you have a pre-nap routine?

We have our bedtime routine down pat and they know its bedtime and might cry for a couple of minutes before going to sleep or laying there for a little while before going to sleep.
At nap time they can someties cry for up to 15 minutes, I know they are just winding down before falling asleep but I'm wondering if a pre-nap routine might help with this. Anyone have any thoughts?
I've read a few places that the pre-bedtime and pre-nap routine should be the same....well pre-bedtime is undressing, new diapers, lotion, pj's/sleep sack, story, kisses, bedtime; I dont really want to do that 4x a day total.

 

I did try to make their pre-nap and bedtime routine the same, but without all of the changing clothes, diapers, etc. I would try to rock them for a couple of minutes and sing a couple of songs and then lay them down. Now, I just give them their lovey and lay them in bed and they are out. We still have the same bedtime routine, but I don't find the pre-nap routine as necessary anymore because they are so easy to put down. Hope that helps!

 

Our pre-nap routine:

Diaper change in the nursery
Turn on lullaby CD
Put in sleep sacks
Read a book or two
Sing a song or two
Put in crib
Turn on white noise machine
Tuck lovey under arm
Lots of kisses and wishes of sweet dreams
Leave the room

 

our pre-nap routine is a shortened version of our bedtime routine. i change their diapers, sing a song, kiss them & down. at night there's baths & PJs, plus a nursing session.

 

Diapers, bottles, lay down in cribs, turn on mobile, kisses, night nights.

 

Our pre nap routine was a diaper change, quiet time (low lights, no TV), bottles, lullabyes, turn on the mobile and sleepy time.

 

our routines are very simple and are the same for nap/bed time.

Potty
get blankets
sit in rocker and read 2 books
bedtime

 

Our prenap routine
bring in bedroom, sing twinkle twinkle as we are getting their sleep sacks on..give them both kisses and that's it. Pretty simple!
