Otherwise entitled "are we the only idiots who do not have one??????"

Not to be confused with "if you do not have one you are an idiot" because, that is not what I meant.

We have one that we keep upstairs with the bedrooms and we also purchased an emergency ladder so that we can out of the house from the second floor if need be. I think it's probably a good idea to get another f/e for the downstairs area.

We have two. One is under the kitchen sink. And I have no idea where I put the other one . It might be in the basement or garage. I got them when I found out I could get a discount on our home insurance by getting them.

Funny you should post on this topic...I was cleaning out the pantry today and found the fire extinguisher under the dog food bag. I had forgotten we had one. Now I just need to read how to use it.

We have 2, 1 in the kitchen and the other in our bedroom. We have had them for about 11 yrs and I have been thinkin about replacing them soon. Along with the smoke detectors. I know they say to replace the detectors every 10yrs and we have been in this house almost that long. I am not sure how long the fire extinguishers last, I really need to check that out.

Yes, we have a couple, but I should really check them and get an extra.

    Thanks for the reminder.

Hmmmm... I think we have two. I know there's one under the kitchen sink, but I have no idea where the other one is. Perhaps we only have one. I guess I should check!

I went out and got one the day that one of the girls reached up to the stove with one of their stuffed animals. I'd turned away for a second to do something at the sink and she went over to the stove. We've got a gas stove and I still get ill thinking about what could have happened if the angle for the stuffed doll was different :(

We were approved for an adoption when I became pregnant with the twins. The safety features required in a house for adoption approval were unbelievable, but I feel our house is about as safe as they come. Here is what was required:

    1. Fire extinguishers on every level of house (near stove in kitchen, near furnace in basement, and in upstairs master bedroom)
    2. Fire Alarms on every level of house and in every single bedroom (because you are supposed to sleep with your bedroom door closed....according to the fire marshall) - 6 total smoke detectors for us
    3. An escape ladder in every room above the main floor (so if 3 bedrooms on the upper level....3 escape ladders).
    4. A carbon monoxide detector on every floor of the house.
    5. A posted floor plan of house labeled with fire escape routes/exits. (I'm not kidding)

The city fire marshall walked through the entire house to make sure this was done. We only have a 1600 sq ft house + basement and all this was required.

We have two. One is in the kitchen pantry, and the other is in the back of the house in the bathroom closet. When we were at our old house I tried to burn down the kitchen one night. It came in pretty handy :). Then about a year later my mom came to grill and she tried to burn down the back porch. Both times my poor husband had to send out the "durn wimmin" to get replacement food and replacement extinguishers. I'm now discouraged from cooking with actual fire.

I have one...in a closet downstairs and NO clue how to use it. I really need to take it out and learn.

We do -- in our kitchen cabinet near the stove, by the garage door (up on the wall), and in our walk-in closet (up on the wall). We brought an extra one and learn how to use it (took it outside) and know what to do if I should need it.

*One other thing we do have is carbon monoxide detector in our basement (by furnance) and main floor too.

Nope, and my brother's a fire captain :(....I think we also need an escape ladder as we have 3 floors- but they're outrageously expensive, so I'm researching....!
