I have been giving my two My First Flintstone's vitamin since they were about 20 months old. They like to crunch it.

Yes, we give our children a multivitamin with fluoride. Here is an article discussing calcium rich foods which are non-dairy. If you are unable to find a calcium supplement, eating some of these calcium rich foods might be an alternative.

You can buy liquid childrens' vitamins. We used those until they were almost 2 and then switched to chewables. They also make gummy vitamins but those look too much like a jar of candy to me and I don't want there to be any confusion. OH, and my boys have opened the "child resistant" caps so I highly recommend storing in a locked cabinet JIC... particularly if you're going with one that contains iron.

Our pedi prescribed liquid multivitamin with flouride. I put it in their morning milk and they drink it all without even noticing.

We did Liquid Multi-vitamin w/ iron until recently and now they do chewable Little Critters Vitamins (no dyes or preservatives).

We do the gummy bear vitamins. They know they are not candy and they always remind me to give it to them.

Our pedi prescribed liquid multivitamin with flouride.

She recommended sticking with the liquid vitamin prescription until after age 2, and then going to something chewable over the counter.

Half a regular Flintstones/day. They're over 2 and do just fine with chewing. My dentist doesn't like anything Gummie so we stay away from them.

My son and girls both get the dinasaur chewables (from Costco), my son just gets half and they get a whole. He's been getting chewables since about 21/22mths before that we gave the liquid vitamin (I think it's called Poly soy or something like that, we just got it at the supermarket, no perscription needed).

My pedi said vitamins are not necessary as long as they eat a varied diet.

Mine too - and apparently chicken and cheese isn't varied! :p She said she'd like them to get their vitamins from food, but we can supplement while we're working on the food variation thing.

My pedi recommended a multi vitamin after 2 which was a relief to me becasue they had really started to become picky eaters around that time. I tried the flinstone chewables, but they would spit them out (can't say i blame them they taste HORRIBLE!!!) and now we do the gummie ones. My pedi also said, as long as they are getting about 3 cups of milk a day and a serving of carbs and a serving of protein with each meal along with a vitamin a day they should be okay. Any other fruits and veggies I can get into them would be a bonus to what they are getting with the vitamin.

:good: This is what my DS gets. He loves them and knows they are vitamins, and also reminds me daily to give him JUST ONE. At least I know he's listening.

For my DD, I give her Enfamil Poly-vi-sol with Iron. She gets this because she doesn't like the gummy bears, and I don't know why, her vitamins smell and taste horrid! :bad:

We give the girls a liquid vitamin plus minerals from Whole Foods. It's called Child Life I believe. We tried the chewables and the gummies and they didn't like either one. This one they take they actually look forward to.
