Do you get this question as much as me?

Lately, everyone I talk to asks the same thing
"How many weeks does the Dr want you to make it to?"

I know people mean well, and I know that most people just don't get it. I just tell them that the Dr. would like me to make it as far as I possibly can and that each week is a milestone.

Do you hear a lot of this too?

I get this: "How long do you have to be on bedrest?" I usually just say until the babies come. That seems like a dumb question to me.

Yes, I've gotten that one too and "How long will the Dr. LET you go?" I'm thinking, that is the least of my worries right now and doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue anyways!

Yep! I am sorry to say I do....People call me and ask..."WHAT ARE YOU DOING???" What do you think I am doing?? I am in bed....LOL I am on my 22nd week of bed rest. I have been on it since week 5 due to hemmoraging...We have made it to 27 weeks....and you are so right Each and EVERY week is a huge milestone! And you are right.....we want to carry them ALL THE WAY! Do I think that I will??? probably not...but I can sure give these guys the best chance in the world by complying to my Dr.'s orders. I know that it is hard....but we do it becuase we love these little guys more than anything!

Take care, and don't let them drive you too crazy!!

I get those questions a lot too. Or people will call me and ask what I did that day. I always grit my teeth and just say, "Well, I stayed pregnant."

And you are all right, each week is a huge milestone!

But I really hate the 'I wish I could lay in bed all day' comments. I want to scream when I hear that. I would much rather be able to be at home washing the babies' clothes and getting everything ready than to be here, in the hospital, praying for another day.

At least we can come vent here and know that there are others who understand. :love0028:

What's crazy is that I get the "how long will they let you go" question from the nurses here nearly everyday! You'd think they'd know better.

From friends and family I get a lot of "you must be really bored" which I guess is better than "how did you spend your day". I guess people just don't really know quite what to say. I take it all in stride.

Yep, i had that question twice yesterday. I get it all the time. Now that I have a scheduled c-section, I just say, "until my C-section day."

    Strange question.

Yesterday, my SIL (bless her heart) called and said "You must just be exhausted. You take a nap and get some rest!"

 No need to explain to you girls why this seemed funny to me!

You all demonstrate what it means to be a mother !! I'm 35 weeks and only the past week have I had to be on bedrest for early preeclampsia. What a sacrifice you all have made to give your babies a fighting chance. I'm also a nurse and have had long term patients (for other reasons) and I couldn't imagine having to be in the hospital for as long as some of you have. The lack of privacy and sleep in the hospitals can't be avoided most times and I always would feel bad waking someone up to take their blood pressure, etc.

Sorry you have to endure the stupid questions and comments from people. Not what you need during all this. I'm wishing you all the most beautiful babies for all your hard work.

Have any of you just avoided the phone? I have...just to avoid those questions and assumptions that people have.
