Do you dress your twins the same?

I think it's cute when I see twins dressed the same but for me, I prefer to dress them differently pretty much always. Sometimes I'll do outfits that match but are not the same but even that I do rarely. I think I've only dressed them with the same exact outfit like 3 times. I find it frustrating when people give us twin outfits. I'd rather have two different outfits but sometimes it is nice when one gets ruined and then I have another. How do you dress your twins? (specifically same sex twins)

They got so many matching outfits at my shower and as gifts when they were born, that I pretty much have to dress them the same quite often. Hopefully over time they can have more variety.

I haven't bought them very many clothes yet, usually just boring stuff (jammies, white onesies, tights).

I'd prefer something that coordinates, or the same outfit but in different colors, but beggars can't be choosers. And it is cute to dress them alike sometimes.

I have b/g twins and I like to dress them nearly alike...I have alot of the same onesies/sweatpants just in blue and pink and various variations...

it doesn't matter if my son is in blue or my daughter is in pink, invariably some will say "2 boys/2 girls"

I swore I would never dress them alike if I ever had twins, but then I had twins, and ID girls on top of that, so heck yeah I dress them alike! [IMG] At the very least it's the same outfit, different colors, or sometimes a different design, but definitely the same outfit. I figure when they are older they won't want to so I'm going to enjoy it as long as I can!

I always dressed them similar. Either same outfit, different color or both wearing overalls with different color shirts, or both wearing same style pants with same style shirts or both wearing same style dresses. Just a few times they were dressed in same exact outfit and that was like birthdays or holidays or pictures. There were several times that they were dressed in totally different outfits.

I dress mine alike most of the time. At first I thought it was cute but now, I do it more for practical reasons:
    1. I only have to make the decision once about what they're going to wear and it saves time. I barely have time to choose one outfit much less two outfits in the right size that are temperature-, activity- and style-appropriate for the days events!
    2. If I see a cute outfit in the stores, I buy two. That's 50% less time finding clothes!
    3. It helps to ensure that the babies have equal clothes and that I have enough of everything to go around
    4. If they are dressed differently I stress that one is more comfortable than the other or got the cuter outfit. Dressing them the same eliminates this!
    5. My boys are fraternal and don't look a thing alike. I dress them the same to celebrate their "twin-ness" and it's fun for me!

I swear I'm going to stop when they get a little older. But for now at only 5.5 months I am having fun with it and they don't know the difference. [IMG]

Mine are the same most of the time, but then I got a lot of clothes from friends that didn't have twins, so some days they aren't dressed the same. Depends on the mood of me and what I feel like doing. For special occasions, I definately dress them the same. Fun t hear what iother people do though. Great post

Rarely identical (since they are identical). It's too confusing. If my girls were very different looking fraternal twins, I might dress them more similarly.

Anyway, usually they coordinate (it's more challenging to find the coordinating outfits, but kinda fun!). Sam often wears Pink. Syd often wears Purple. Sometimes, the same jeans, but different tops. I try to mix it up.

I'm told as they age, they'll go through phases about dressing similar/different. For now, I dress them however I like... because before we know it, it'll be out of our control!

I don't dress them the same at all, I'm in the same boat as you I've probably only dressed them the same 4 times.

Sometimes. We got a lot of hand-me-downs from singletons so most of their clothes don't match. We do have a few outfits that match but the problem we're getting into is that the girls are drastically different heights and weghts and are now wearing different sizes. All the matching outfits we have are also the same size so they don't work unlesss I squish Erin into something a little too small or put Annie in an outfit that she could swim in.

I still think it's cute. But a lot of times one of them spits up or something so we ahve to change clothes and then they don't match again. No biggie.

I color-coded the girls to make it easy for everyone to tell them apart at a glance. This meant that they were dressed alike only very rarely. Ainsley wore mainly pink & yellow outfits while Sierra wore blue, green, & purple. Since our family knew about the "system", we didn't get too many matching outfits. Most were coordinating.

I would love to dress them coordinating all the time, not a big fan of identical, but unfortunately we buy most of our clothes for them at Goodwill and to date I have only found 2 outfits the same in different colors. For Christmas I asked everyone to get them coordinating stuff, but like usual, they don't respect that and buy us identical outfits. I usually exchange one of them for something coordinating after I carefully hide the tags in one picture to send in the thank you card. We don't see anyone enough for them to really notice that we didn't use their outfits. I do match their socks daily though [IMG]

I dress mine alike. For me it is a time thing. Like pp said when I buy stuff for them it is easier to just pick up 2 of the same thing and when I am deciding what they are going to wear just picking the same outfit. I said at the beginning I wouldn't dress them alike but I found it too time consuming to try and find coordinating stuff so we just dress them alike.

    P.S. They are not identical.

we have a few of the same outfits, but not many. But they are always coordinated somehow with same outfit/diff color etc. I don't want one to look cuter then the other just because of the outfit! [IMG] I'm even this way with pajamas even though nobody seems them but me! [IMG]

for now i think that it is cute to dress them the same, or at least to startthe day off that way! i but id outfits and so does everyone who buys for them. i think that it is more expensive this way ( i could double their wardrobe by not dressing them alike.) but like PP i don't think they will dress alike in school so i am having my fun now!

I never thaiught I would dress them the same but i do. Thaey are not always exactly the same, some times just matching. But if I on occasion dress them copletely differrent it feels really weird to me. I too like to celebrate their twinness. It is weird I know. One day they will not want to ress alike so much or even at all. I have certain colors that pertain to each girl. IE paiten is pink and Kadence is purple. But other colors it does not matter so much. My boys are fraternal......you can tell that they are brothers, but they do not look like twins (one is 3 lbs heavier and 1 inch taller) and one had blonde hair and the other has brown hair.

I do dress them exactly the same in the beginning of the day (or if we go into the public)....but if one needs an outfit change, I only change the one that needs it, and then they are not dressed alike.....LOL

The funny thing is that hubby dresses them and picks out their clothes most of the time and he always picks out the same outfit for them to wear (right down to the socks)......the twins have 5 older brothers, so we had plenty of singleton outfits, but we got new things for the twins to wear.

forgot to say that the boys are 14 months old

I dress them in whatever is clean. Sometimes it matches... more often it doesn't. But I agree, it is so darn cute.

Before they were born, I told everyone I was going to dress the girls in coordinating clothes not identical clothes. Only two or three people listened and almost every set of outfits we were given were identical. Once the girls were born, they were obviously fraternal so the clothes weren't as big a deal as if they were ID and hard to tell apart. I gave in an dressed them in the identical outfits because we see a lot of the people who gave us the clothes and they love to see the girls in their gifts-especially at church. I try to buy coordinating myself-unless I really love one outfit and the coordinating one just isn't as cute. For instance, they had the same Baptism gown because I absolutely fell in love with that gown and couldn't find anything else I liked nearly as much.

I either dress my girls the same or in coordinating outfits also. They never have on completely different outfits. I have a hard time shopping for them b/c if I find something I really like and it does not have another outfit that is similar I will not buy it. I guess I am a little too picky. Lyric is usually wearing pink and Alandra is usually in purple.

We tend to dress our girls the same, just for the cute factor! Like someone else said, we figure that once they're older, they're not going to let us, so we're enjoying it while we can.

Wow -- I guess I'm in the minority. We never dress ours alike or even in coordinating outfits. We have a number of duplicate outfits we've gotten as gifts, and they just wear them on different days. Having taught twins in my middle school classes, I see the importance of helping them to feel like individuals. While they obviously don't know what they are wearing now, so that doesn't impact them, other people find it easier to call them by name if they are dressed differently (even though I think it is easy to tell them apart). And coordinating outfits is a level of effort that I just don't have in me [IMG]

I do not dress my boys alike for the most part. My dad used to dress my twin sis and I alike and it's hard to look back at our baby pictures. It sounds ridiculous but I can't tell who's who in our baby pics. So I also have colour codes. Green for Peter, blue for Jared, and I used to use Red for Daniel.

We had so much given to us as shower and birth gifts. We were lucky because people gave us stuff for all different sizes-- from preemie up to 9 months. I'm just now getting to the point where I'm having to buy stuff. A lot of the stuff we got was matching. Now that I'm buying stuff, it's almost like I have to remind myself that I don't have to buy two of the same of everything! I guess my answer is two-fold. I think it's addorable to see them in matching outfits, but I don't want them growing up with any sense that they aren't individuals. With ID girls this is bound to be a problem anyway! Thus, I am now buying mostly non-matching clothes.

I like to dress mine the same...I think it is cute. If it is not exactlythe same, I dress them in coordinating outfits lke the same dress, one pink - one blue. I also use A LOT of borrowed or consignment shop clothes wich don't match. When I buy clohes or get clothes as gifts I ask for matching clothes

Different - but same type... i.e. they both wear overalls on the same day, but different ones or with something different underneath...

If we have outfits that people bought us that are identical they wear them the same day sometimes or not. If we have hand me downs from my older DS, we will dress them in those and they are sometimes similar or not. And we also buy a lot of corresponding outfits which they will wear at the same time or not. So I guess it depends on the day, whats clean, and whether or not they have thrown up on it yet [IMG]

I swore I would never, ever dress them alike, then I had them. It was just too cute not too, not to mention we had 4 showers and most of it was clothes (2 identical outfits). I am the same as pp, they are little now, so why not? Once they get older they are not going to want to dress alike.

I have 7mo B/G twins and only dress them in pink and blue matching stuff sometimes...very rarely though. Instead, I dress my girl twin to match her big sister (22 mo) and have a blast doing it.
