I put the babies down for bed in another room and have the monitor in my room. I can always instantly wake up to the slightest peep they make. I went to bed at 10pm and I woke up at 4am, my normal sleep time if I don't get woken up beforehand. I didn't hear anything from them allll night, I went straight to their room to make sure they were still breathing paranoid I know, but usually sometime in the night they make a wimper or two but nope nothing, complete silence.
I ALWAYS wake in the middle of the night to go and check on my babes. Two nights ago William rolled over and got his arm stuck in the crib slats. So last night I woke at 2:30 and 4:30 to check on them both. My kids always sleep from 7:00-7:00 so I guess I am paranoid too.
WOW! That's awesome, I sure hope my girls sleep that long soon! I'm not sure what you're asking, but yes, I put the girls to sleep in their own room & use the monitor at night. I also wake up to any sound, which is why I turn it on low so that I only hear the loud important noises, or else I wouldn't get any sleep!

I was asking if you get paranoid about your babies being in another room, always checking on them and stuff
I never check on my boys. They are five mos now and I never have been a "checker". I have never even turned on my monitor... I shut my door and blast my fans and SEE YA at 6:30 am!! Mine sleep from 6pm to 6:30 am so.. IF something happened that I needed to wake up for- I'd hear the SCREAMING but it probably won't and I know they're safe so.. I just sleep and so do they.. They are still here!!! I don't have the paranoia thing going here. I just trust that they'll be okay.. I also put them on their stomachs when they first came home too.. I guess I'm just easy going.... about that at least..
My boys are still in a crib in our room. We are waiting until warm weather to move them to their own room bc the furnace is in their closet and would 1) wake them up or 2)i fear I wouldn't hear them cry. (Its LOUD)
I was always paranoid. The first night my oldest son STTN I woke up in a panic and was seriously considering having my MIL check on him because I was afraid something had happened. Luckily he started cooing a few minutes later.
I would go and check on the girls twice every night for the first 3 to 4 months. Until I started getting comfortable and only going into their room once a night. Now I just check on them right before I go to bed and then I call it a night until Katelyn my early bird wakes me up at 5am. :8714bumper: So now - unless I hear one of them wake up - I try and get as much sleep as I can.
We have Angelcare monitors and I know they go off if they can't detect breathing so we don't check on ours. Worth considering if you want to have some extra reassurance
If I haven't heard from them during the night and they sleep in, I really want to go in there and check if they are breathing! Totally normal!
my girls sleep in a crib in my room and if I dont hear anything for an hour or so I am checking to make sure they're breathing! I think its totally normal
I'm a checker too! I used to do it a lot more (frankly, once we got past six months and the risk of SIDS dropped dramatically I felt better, but - I still check! Not in the middle of the night anymore, but definitely once before I go to sleep. I have monitors but i've learned to turn them down low so every noise doesn't wake me. What cracks me up (ok, it really irks me) is that DH has NEVER checked on them. What's up with THAT??!!! I guess it's a hormonal thing....
I SO remember those first few days/months. I was checking on them constantly. They would wake every 3 hours to nurse, and I would wake every hour to check on them I would put my hand on their tummies/backs to check for 'breathing' Now that they're almost 9 months I check on them right before I go to bed. I still have the monitor on my nightstand and turn it up (DS still wakes at least once a night to eat). If I happen to get up during the night for some reason, I always go in and check on them. DH also checks on them when he leaves for work at 3:30am. I think it's completely normal....I still check on my 14 year old from time to time. April
I'm sitting downstairs enjoying my morning cup of coffee and planning to check on them in just a few minutes! They've been totally quiet on the monitor all morning, and when hubby went upstairs to get dressed for work he said they were "wide awake, staring, but quiet" So, I am going to check to see if they are "wide awake, staring" or if they've fallen back to sleep.
My girls have been sleeping through for a while now but I still get up several times to check on them
