Do you 8-10 yr. olds read magazines?

I'm trying to think of a good magazine subscription for my DD and wondered if any of you had some suggestions. She's done Highlights and Disney Princess in the past but she's well past that now. She did have one to Ranger Rick as well, which was kind of interesting but didn't keep her interest long even though she loves animals and learning all about them. I was thinking possibly National Geographic for kids too. Any ideas? TIA!

    We love Crickets magazines:

They have A LOT to choose from- High quality, ad free, we love their stuff!

    Magazine list from Cricket Publishers

We used to get Ladybug (4-6 yr olds), Baby Bug (0-3) and now get Ask (6-10).

for 6-12 (ages vary) they have literary, science, history, archeology and other specific magazines (Muse, Dig, Cricket, Ask, FAces, Footsteps, etc). They are well done and often on sale or have coupons floating out there. They are also AD FREE (which I Love!!).- the only magazines I found to be this way.

Other good magazines for that age would be:
Plays- script magazine for young actors (8+)

New Moon (a literature magazine for young girls)

    National Geographic Kids

    Time for kids

    American Girl Magazine

    Discovery Girls

Nick Magazine (a LOT of ads)

Creative Kids (kids ages 8+ submit work to be published)

Zoobooks (a magazine really!)Zoobooks magazine link
Long list of magazines for kids link here!! They have a list, descriptions, and age ranges!

Those are the ones I can think that our library carried for 6-12 age kids!

Thanks KC! I was reading about the Discovery Girls and it sounded fun. I'm going to read up on some of the other ones. I like the sounds of submitting your work for the Creative kids one. She loves all art and writing.

We've gotten Click (also from the Cricket "family") for a couple of years now. It's too young for your DD, but based on how much we've liked it, I can imagine that we'll be getting some of the ones for older kids when the time comes.

My daughter loves Discovery Girls. I found a huge stack of them at a consignment sale for $1, so she has been reading them from 2006.

I know that American Girl magazine is geared for that age.

Sarah actually likes reading the full-version National Geographic. When we go to the dr. that's the one she'll pick.

When she was in the 8-10 range, my oldest dd liked American Girl, Discovery Girl and Highlights. We have subscriptions to all 3.

My girls like National Geographic for kids, Scooby-Doo comic books, and Highlights puzzle mania. My son also likes the magazines too.

We have both Discovery Girls and Nat Geo Kids, and my kids love the Nat Geo kids, hands down. They read it cover to cover, every issue.

I read the American Girl magazine when I was young and I LOVED it. I'm actually looking forward to my girls being old enough to read it...

Did I just reveal my age? ;)

My parents just ordered the boys Ranger Rick and Zoobooks. They haven't gotten them in the mail yet but they are excited and waiting on them.
