Do twins fare better than singletons with an added baby?

Just curious.

My sister just had her 2nd baby and my nephew is 17 months so right around the same age my boys will be when this new baby arrives for us. He is not adjusting well (doesn't help he has a virus) and will actually whine and point to my BIL when she is b/fing bc he wants my BIL to hold the baby.

I'm just wondering since the twins have always had to wait on each other at some point or share Mommy and Daddy at some point if they adjust a little quicker than singleton babies?

 

Perhaps, but I really don't know from personal experience. I've never had any jealousy issues from any of them with the arrival of a new baby. Maybe it's an age thing. The twins were 2.5 years when Bec was born and Bec was 22 months when Sam was born.

 

I never had a problem with my DD when the twins came but she was 3. We had involved her in everything leading up to the babies. She decided the nursery theme, went to doctor appt, ultrasounds, took a sibling class, etc.

My boys were just shy of 20 months when Annabella was born. We never had any jealousy issues with them and the baby. None. They never asked to have daddy hold her, or try to push her, hit her, etc. They have been amazing with her-from the start. In fact, Annabella was already in bed when I brought the boys to bed, and Anthony started crying his eyes out because he didn't get to say goodnight to her!

I have a friend who has a daughter the same age as my boys. Her 2nd daughter was born in September and I think there was an adjustment period for the older daughter. But, nothing out of the ordinary I believe.
