I wanted to know since I am new to the site.

    I am expecting twins!

I am scare and frustrated because I have HYPERPARATHYROIDISM and then TWINS so I am really high risk.

But I have been wondering if twins come early, since I got huge with my daughter I am scare of getting huge again.

Please tell me what you think and if you have pictures of your belly that would help.

Let me know what I am expecting :babyflips: to look like. I saw one lady and she was pretty small to me.

:wavey: Hi! Welcome to TS and Congratulations on your twin pregnancy!! Not all twins come early, but mine did (the stats are in my siggy). I have heard that 37 weeks is considered full term for twins, but there are several women on this site that have gone beyond that. Everyone is different. Since your pregnancy is very high risk, just make sure you are following your Dr's orders. Unfortunately there are no guarantee's. I hope you have a wonderful, non eventful pregnancy!!

congrats on your pregnancy! i am a first time mom expecting mono/di twins and am 18 weeks tomorrow. i'm pretty big for a first timer and only early into the 2nd trimester. i've already gained over 20lbs but that is not normal so don't expect that kind of gain. i started off being rather small weight wise before pregnancy so no one is concerned about the weight gain and i definetly don't look HUGE, except in the belly region.

as for coming early, my OB tells me i'll be lucky to make it to 37 weeks. infact the goal is 37 weeks but i could really come anytime before that. and i am super high risk also because of the types of twins i am having, they share a placenta.

but from what i understand, since this is your second pregnancy expect to get pretty big pretty fast. you're in for a long road but it will be worth it in the end!

    congrats again! :)

It really depends on your OB. My OB considers twins full term at 37 weeks and will induce but others here have gone longer.
I am pretty big (in my mind first pregnancy) but people tell me I look like I could be carrying one. It's definitely hard now because I'm carrying at least 10 pounds of baby now but so worth it if I can keep them out of the NICU as much as possible. I've gained about 45 pounds (started at a normal weight).

    Good Luck & Congrats!

Congrats on your twins. I hope you find that your body will amaze you and adapt to the situation well. When I first got pregnant my docs were concerned that a twin pregnancy would be too hard on my body (I had complications with my son six years ago). Turned out that until 32 weeks I have been fortunate enough to have a very easy pregnancy. Now I am dealing with swelling and signs of early pre-eclampsia, but bedrest seems to be helping keep it under control.

I am not going to post a pic of myself because I don't want to scare you. My son was 8lb 3oz when he was born so I tend to make large babies. When I was about 24 weeks people who didn't know I was having twins would always look at me with panic in their eyes as if they thought I was about to go into labor. As of today I can no longer drive my car. My belly is rubbing against the steering wheel and if I move the seat back any more I won't reach the pedals. The flip side is I am still able to wear my old mens t-shirts with no problem which totally baffles me.

As for delivery I am scheduled for a c-section at 37 weeks. My doctor says she'll be surprised if I make it that far, but it is my goal to get there. I can handle a couple weeks of discomfort in order to keep these two cooking. Just take it easy and listen to your doctor.

:wavey: and welcome to Twinstuff!! Congratulations on your twins!!  I don't think anyone can tell you when your twins will come. My doctor kept telling me that by 32 weeks I'd have mine... and I lasted to 39 weeks. :good:

As for the belly pictures, there just happens to be a thread in the First Year forum here on twinstuff with pictures of baby bumps towards the end. We also have a thread going on here in the expecting forum that ladies post pictures in. :good:

I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I think full term for twins is 36 weeks. The farther you can get the better! The babies of course do much better inside you than in the NICU. My twins were born at 31.5 weeks. I attached a picture that was taken at 31.3 weeks. That's as big as I got!
GL with your pregnancy, I hope you do well :)

Congrats! I think that everyone is different and a twin pregnancy is totally different from a singleton! Good Luck!

Hi and welcome to Twinstuff. :welcome: Congrats on your twins. Not all twins come early, mine did though. My oldest DD did not however, I think you just never know what is going to happen with a twin pregnancy.

Welcome and congratulations. Don't worry, there's a chance you won't get too big. I'm 31 weeks measuring 41 weeks and have gained 18 lbs. I'm 5'7 so I had more room in my torso to carry them. It's a lot different if you're shorter.

Not all twins come early! Just because you are having twins doesn't mean they will absolutely come early. Your chances are higher, but it's not absolute.

I had a scheduled c-section at just over 38 weeks. The doctor said I had no signs of impending labor/delivery and would have gone for probably another 2 weeks. My babies were 7lb 13 oz and 7lb 6 oz.

I gained 75lbs and felt as big as a house. It's hard to watch yourself get that big, but worth every second. Hang in there. The longer you can keep them in there, the better chance you'll have for big healthy babies. You can always lose the weight. You won't get another chance to help those babies grow

I am about 29 weeks, and my clothes I wore when I delivered my son 3 years ago dont fit me now. At my appointment yesterday, I said to my doc, so do we get to call it quits at 38 weeks? and he said if there are no signs of labor there is no reason just to induce, but I guess we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.

I made it to 37 weeks and 2 days. I measured 47 weeks and gained 25 lbs. The only reason they came THAT early was because my partner was going to leave for West Pack (6mo) the next week and really wanted to be here to see his babies. Otherwise Im sure they would have stayed in there at least another week. I was showing NO sings of delivering. Ill aslo say, My belly has bounced back pretty good. I use coconut oil (yes the kind you cook with) and my skin has healed almost perfectly (even after 3 births!)

Congrats on the twins!! I delivered mine at 36-37 weeks. I wasn't having any problems and actually worked the first half of the day they were born. I went home around noon. I never had any pain, just a lot of pressure. I delivered them around 5pm. Mine were both 6lbs 12ozs. I stayed sick almost the whole time. I wanted my doctor to tell me that I had to take off work, but he never did. Oh, well!! My twins were born healthy and we all went home two days later. They are now 3-1/2 years old and very active!!!!!

Congrats on your twin pregnancy! I was totally freaked out when I heard there were two! I was already a mom of two boys. The twin pregnancy was NOTHING like my singlton pregnancies. Much more difficult but thats to be expected as your body doesnt know that there are two in there so it tries to deliver early. I was on bedrest (like most twin moms) at 22 weeks. I didnt look huge but i felt very heavy. my stomach was always contracting and they were very low making walking towards the end difficult (even to go to the bathroom). I would say it got the hardest around 32 weeks. I was in preterm labor for 8 days and dilated at 3cm for 8 days too and finally delivered at 35 weeks and 4 days. they were 5 1/2lbs each and were very healthy, only having jaundice. Every pregnancy is different but dont think its going to be an easy ride! Trust me that it will be so worth it when they are finally hear!

Baby A's water broke at 39 weeks 1 day, I was scheduled to be induced the next day. I delivered vag at 39 weeks 2 days and still had to be induced...they did not want to come out!

I had a pre-term labor scare at 33 weeks to the day. If I had been closer to 34 weeks, the OB wouldn't have stopped labor. I was given steroids to develop the girls' lungs and in the hospital for several days with the goal of staying pregnant for 72 hours longer so the second steroid shot would have a chance to work. I was given terb to stop the contractions and it worked really well. Labor stopped completely and I carried the girls 5 more weeks. In the end, I was induced and delivered at 38 weeks 1 day.

I didn't get very big. I was actually chewed out by a nurse when I was hospitalized for the pre-term because my belly didn't look big enough for carrying twins. I am 5' 7" and have a long torso, so the girls had room. Katelyn was head down in birth position for over two months, so most of what you could see was Jessica. Poor Katelyn was smushed under Jessica and curled up like a ball-it took a while for her to realize that she could stretch her legs out once they were born.

    Welcome to TS!

Personally I think getting big should be the least of anyone's worries. The health of the babies comes first.

Not all but many twins come early. Mine came at 36W. My cousin had her twins at 37 W and one still needed NICU time (and had a life threatening issue) so the longer you keep them in the better.

Good luck with your pregnancy and I hope you can carry them full term.

Congrats to you! I had mine by scheduled c-section at 36 weeks 6 days. Here is a link to my Belly Pics. I was pretty darn big but my babies were 6 lbs 5 oz and 6 lbs 2 oz and in great health (no NICU) so it was definitely worth every pound, stretch mark, and stretched tummy muscle. :)

    Congrats on twins!!!

Both sets of my twins were delivered at 38 weeks. The first set by scheduled c section and thats when they do those is 38 weeks i dont think i would have ever gone into labor anyways. Lol The second set i went into labor two days before my scheduled c section at 38 weeks exact, and had the c section that night for them. Both sets of twins i wore my normal everyday blue jeans up till 7 months and never actually wore maternity clothes. I didnt really get big until right before delivery but even so i still fit into normal clothes :) I gained i think 19 lbs with first two and 29 with second two maybe? I get it backwards.
