My boys are almost 4 months old and I can't get them to sleep in their crib!! If I lay them in there.. asleep or awake, they will cry until I go back and get them! It don't matter how sleepy they are they will not sleep in there.

They will sleep in the swings though(moving or not!)

Are your twins sleeping in the crib? Did you ever have this problem??? If so... help me!

My 2 older boys were like that too, but I don't remember when or how I switched them to the crib ?

Maybe you could try for naps to move them from the swings to the cribs when they are almost but not totally asleep. If they learn that then sleeping in the cribs at night will be better. Also, you could have them hang out in the crib for quiet activities during the day so they can learn that the crib is a nice calm place to be. Maybe a mobile over the crib would help?
    Good luck.

My sister had her all of her babies sleep in their bouncies in the crib. (she did it for reflux, but it worked to "train" them to sleep in their cribs. (She did that per doctor's idea) Then, in her case, when the reflux calmed down, she took them out of the bouncies and they had no problem sleeping in the crib.

    Hi,

Some kids just don't like the big expanse of space in a crib and need to feel all tucked in. You could get a positioner for them or you could roll up a blanket/quilt lengthwise and make an inverted "U" and this will give your kiddos walls around them to feel safer. Swaddling can also help - mine are still swaddled at nearly 6 months.

    Good luck

I went through this w/my daughter! She slept in her car seat till she was 3 months old. Finally, at my wits end, I bought a white noise machine and it did the trick! Try it!

I agree with PP I think the open space of the crib bothers the. I swaddle them at night for bed. They will sometimes cry for a minute or two trying to escape from the swaddle but once they fall asleep they sleep sooo much better. I think it helps them feel like their being held and also keeps them from waking themselves up by hitting themself of their sibling while their sleeping.

Nicholas went through a period where he would only sleep in bed with us which meant I got no sleep. Eventually I was able to get him into the bouncey seat with a sleep positioner. I put the whole thing in the crib. Then I took out the sleep positioner and he slept in the bouncey in the crib. Then I was able to get him into the crib. It took a long time; it was a slow process. But now he sleeps in there at night and for most naps.

Mine refuse to sit in their crib, let alone lay down and *gasp* SLEEP! Then again, their cribs are upstairs and my room is downstairs, so I'm not pushing the issue.

But, we ran into the same thing you are when we moved them into the PNPs. I had to put the bouncy seats or travel swings IN the PNP until they were used to the new surroundings. After a while I finally let them lay on the mattress part. I remember having to lay my arm over Courtney the first night, but after that, they were fine. Now we have no problems napping and sleeping in there. But heaven forbid the day we move to the cribs!! And they are 10 months old!!!

I'm having the same problem, mine only will sleep for long periods in our bed. I'm not fundamentally opposed to this, but I don't sleep well that way!
Mine don't have any reflux problems, so I've been cheating and nursing them to sleep, laying them in the bed, and when they start fussing one minute later, giving them a small bottle while their in teh bed, to put them back to sleep. Of course, I'm holding the bottle and watching over them. Once they get to sleep there, they'll stay that way. But they don't like going from my warm arms/bed to the crib. HTH

Mine will only sleep in their cribs if their heads are up tighly against the bumper pad. I also put them in their cribs when I am in their room putting away clothes or cleaning with them wide awake. I think they have gotten used to their crib by doing that. In fact, my one twin will just lay in there wide awake looking at toys. Do you have a mobile for them to look at or any other toys on the side of the crib?

Ours slept in their car seat until 5 months. It started because of reflux and then it just became habit.

At 4 months, we tried the crib and they hated it. We realized the car seat would not work for much longer so that is when we started putting them in the crib for naps. That is when we began to sleep train also. So for naps, we put them in the side sleeper (i think they were so used to being tight in their car seat so i think the side sleeper was good for them) and we did hummed and patted them and had a noise machine and cd lullaby. The crib worked for naps.

At 5 months, one of my sons went to see a Dr. for a helet evaluation (he has toricollis) and the Dr. said as of tonight, he cant sleep in his car seat ever again! AHH! So we had no choice which I guess was good. We had many rough nights and many nights we did wake up and put them in their car seat just so they would go back to sleep.

I would say it took 1 week of rough nights and resorting to the car seat when we were desparate.

After a couple weeks, we did not use the side sleeper jsut to see how they would do. THey both ended up turing on their stocmach and slept so great. I was nervous because they cna tflip from their stomach to their back but every time i flipped them they would go back to their stomach so I eventually left them and how they sleep great in their crib.

I think it was more of myself saying they 'cant' sleep in the crib. When looking back, i never really gave them a chance since i knew the car seat was a quick fix and I got sleep!
