Do they need headphones?

After a lot of worry and angst, I did end up buying a dual screen DVD player for our two-day drive (each way) to see my parents. I figure we will only break it out if we absolutely need it!

So, I would rather they did not wear headphones, but I am wondering if that is a better option? I do not mind listening to whatever they are watching.

Thoughts??

 

Mine don't wear them. Mine are younger, so the headphones would probably end up broken before they were used properly.

 

I am guessing yours is a portable one so I am not sure how the headphones work – wired or wireless. We have a DVD that is installed in the car and it has wireless headphones that we don’t let the kids wear – mostly because I was concerned they would mess around with the volume and turn it up too loud or break them. We normally put them around the base of the headrest just at the top of their carseats – not sure this will work in all cars. We also will put them on the arm rest of the driver or passenger seat and turn them up load – they can hear it a bit but wouldn’t and we have also had the DVD player on with no sound and that didn’t seem to bother them at all.

 

Agree. Plus I could see my boys messing with them and getting them tangled around their neck and then getting upset and me having pull over. Our portable DVD player is behind the front seats facing the 2nd row seats (our boys are forward facing now), and the volume is much lower to me up front because it is projecting back at them. So I definitely don't think you need to get them headphones
