Do the aches & pains EVER get better?

I've been on bedrest almost 2 weeks & am sooooo sore! I know that the further in pregnancy, the more uncomfortable you get, but it seems like I'm SOOO uncomfortable ever since I was put on bedrest. The only time I don't ache is when I get up & stretch or sit up for a little bit (I'm on modified bedrest, not strict). My hips & mid back are aching ALL the time & I CANNOT find a comfortable spot to lay in. I've heard that the first few weeks of bedrest are the worst, but I'm just wondering if it will even get better since I'm already so far along. To those of you who have been on bedrest for weeks or months, I truly admire you (and hate to complain when you've endured so much more). These past 2 weeks have been a test of my own inner strength & my marriage! Luckily, I only have a few weeks left, so I'm in the end stretch, but I also don't want to spend the remainder of my pregnancy popping Tylenol & moving around constantly to try to find that 'comfy inch'. Whatever's best for the boys, but hopefully someone will give me some glimmer of hope that it MAY get better :)....

    Hi Andrea,
I wasn't on bedrest that long since my two decided to come early, but can sympathize with you. My hips were so sore from laying in the bed. I'm sorry you are having to deal with the discomfort of bedrest. I know it's not fun. Just wanted to give you some hugs :hug99: and say hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end.

Thanks, your little ones are so cute! I know it'll be worth it, but I tell ya....my hips & back never hurt this way when I was able to be up & around more!!!

Oh yeah, been there done that! I was on modified bedrest at 34, strict at 35 and delivered at 37. The pain was unbearable some days from just laying around. I am very sorry to tell you that it lasted a little while after they were born. I would say by 4 weeks or so I felt worlds better. :hug99: because it sure is hard!

I am in the exact same boat! This is my 3rd week on bedrest and I am 33 weeks. I never felt this bad when I was able to get up and around. My abdomen, back and hips are killing me. I'm trying not to complain but it's hard to get comfortable at all. The more I have to lay around, the less energy I have when I am able to get up to eat or go to the bathroom. Taking a shower and drying my hair just wear me out now! I have to get up to tinkle about every hour to hour and a half during the night so I should be well prepared for getting up w/ the babies every night.

Gosh, I remember that soreness well...I'm so sorry you're going through it! I had a lot of back pain and it seemed the only place I could find relief was in the tub - I must have taken hundreds of baths! Maybe that might help?

wow, so it's not just me? I've been on bed rest for close to two weeks and I'm dying with hip pain. I wish there was a way to get rid of it but I'm afraid it's a price we pay to hold these precious babes in until it's safe to meet them. I'm almost 30 weeks now and as long as I make it to 36 weeks I can deliver in my small town with no nicU...
Hang in there and think of the babies...

I had a big old U-shaped body pillow I ordered on Walmart.com, tucked one end between my knees, the straight part along my back, and the other end under my head. This did help the hip pain some.

It's really hard being on bedrsest - I did it for 15 weeks. But that pillow was a lifesaver for me.

I bought an electric heating pad today and placed it under my hips.... so much better. I'm just using it on low heat so I can minimize the hot flashes haha. It really makes a world of difference for me. Just thought I'd pass it on.

I have HORRIBLE hip pain and the whole pelvic separation thing. It's gotten much worse in this past week. I have a big down comforter and I fold it and put it across the whole recliner and sit/lay on top of it and that does help. I can't sleep on my side laying down at all anymore, I'm in the recliner most of the time and that does help.

My doula was here today and showed me some exercizes that may help your hips and lower back. the first one you can do is sit on the edge of the couch and rock your pelvis back and forth , and do figure eights with them. you can do them on an excercize ball as well. helps relieve stress and stregntens your muscles there. another you can do is sit in a chair back to the wall and have your sig other on his knees and push your knees up a little and back. to strech your bum muscles and thighs. also you can lean over the couch and have your sig other massage the muscles in your lower back and butt. find where your hips are near your bum and push up just a little. it relieves soooo much pressure! good luck!

Rachel- on bed rest 7 weeks
