Do I have to get a second stroller?

I know, I know, a stroller question. Sorry.

But I was just thinking. I have a SBS for my twins and with baby #3 on the way, this baby is going to need a stroller also. So I guess I have to buy a single one now.

Since my babies will be 17 months apart, we will definately still need a stroller for the twins. I guess I am just now realizing that I am not going to be going anywhere by myself. How in the world do I manage two 17 month olds and a newborn. It's impossible to push two strollers at once. Imagine the looks I will get!

So does anyone have any ideas. Or am I just housebound for a long time to come?

I've been wondering about the stroller issue too. I have no clue how I am ever going to get out of the house once this baby comes.

My twins don't like strollers, but I guess I plan on using a sling for mobility for this baby a lot.

I'm not planning on getting another stroller until I figure out how it will work out. Mine will be 19 months apart and I am imagining that I could use a baby bjorn and the double stroller when I go out until the kids are older and I feel more comfortable just letting them walk next to a single stroller. We'll see :) Good Luck

I might get an umbrella single stroller. My girls rarely use their stroller. I have seen a lot of people use a carrier for their baby and keep their other kids in the double stroller if they still like the stroller.

I plan on using my double stroller for the new baby and parker (my twin with Cerebal Palsy...hes not walking yet). I plan on having Lily walk or if my dh is with us use an umbrella stroller for her.

I keep trying to figure out what I will do as my guys love to get out!! They mostly walk, but there are times when the stroller is necessary. I think I am just planning on wearing the new baby most of the time. I have a bassinet attachment for my twin stroller, but then one twin walk and the other rides, which says to me a fight over who gets to be out/in. I guess I am gust going to play it by ear until I am living the craziness.

Our twins will be two 1 week after this baby is due. I broke down and bought a Valco Twin with toddler seat. The baby and one toddler can ride in the main stroller part and one toddler can ride in the toddler seat in front. I think it will be great for our walks, trips to the store, etc. I don't think the toddler seat will be that comfortable for long excursions, but we don't realistically make it very long before someone melts down! :) It has a huge basket, so it works well for shopping too.

I don't think this really relates...but I saw a man today pushing a QUAD stroller (looked like two side-by-sides mashed together). He had three children of varying ages in it and a 5-6 year old and a dog standing next to him. They were waiting to cross a very busy road during rush hour. If you are thinking of a 4th baby soon after this one that might be an option for you ;)

I did a front carrier and a double stroller. I switched out which twin was in the carrier, but you can just use it for the baby mainly? I just couldn't bring myself to spring for a triple stroller... (OK, I'm cheap!)

I got a single and I'm getting a used triple on craigslist. I go out a lot, kiddos and all, and the boys still require being strapped in to walk to the park or to go in stores. Plus, I'd hate to have to go out and not be able to because I didn't have a stroller. I also hate moving babies in and out of carseasts, into slings/packs, etc, particularly in the winter. I think everyone is different. I, personally, like options. I get a lot of things used off craigslist. Saves me a bundle.

I guess if I want to get out of the house, it is the double stroller and the bjorn. Thanks for reminding me that I had one! That is going to be the easiest for a while I guess.

    Thanks

I know everyone is so different on how long they used their strollers. It depends a lot on where you live and how often you are getting out and using it. For my experience with the twins, when my DS#2 was barely 2, we lived in an urban area and I walked almost everywhere. I *WISH* there would have been a Valco with toddler seat. It would have totally saved my sanity! As it was, I was continually cajoling my toddler into cooperating, and allowing him to stand on the back of my Maclaren... :icon_eek: It was not ideal!

I used my double strollers with my twins regularly (i.e. every day!) for 3+ years, so if you follow a similar pattern, I think you could totally justify a triple, or the Valco with toddler seat - at least once you're done carrying the new baby in a sling or Bjorn.

It wouldn't hurt to have an extra umbrella stroller for when you and your dh go out together...then one of the older kids can sit in the umbrella when your baby is still too young for it. Those are so cheap...BRU gives them out for free all the time when you make certain purchases. I wouldn't invest in a heavy duty single stroller at this point. Your other option is to do one of those side by side joggers with the toddler seat up front...But I think they are pricey. I have a friend who had twins and then had her third when her twins were around 14 months old...so she used that all the time and loved it. I had my twins when my older dd was 20 months and never got a triple stroller... when the babies were young I just used a baby bjorn and put one of them in that.... Then when the babies got to old for that my older dd got booted out of the stroller and had to walk...poor thing. But she was almost 2.5 at that point, and for longer outings there was always a third party there to use my umbrella stroller with her...or I would put all three kids in the shopping cart.
