Do/did you have a late crawler?

I'm just curious about other late crawlers. My boys are 10.5 months (or 9 mos 1 week adj) and they still aren't crawling. They scoot around hardwood floors on their bottoms and they lay on their bellies and scoot around the floor backwards - but that is all!

Finley is now getting up on all 4's - and seems to be finally interested in moving. But Sullivan acts like he really doesn't care at all - he's learned to lean waaaay over and reach realllly far to grab the toys that he wants - and if it is out of his reach he either moves on to a different toy or he lets me know by fussing, reaching, etc.

I'm not concerned about it - I didn't crawl myself until I was 11 months and it was the "army crawl". I have talked to their pediatrician - he's not concerned either, they have hit all other fine and gross motor milestones early or on time - but I am just wondering for those of you whose babies did not crawl by the time they were 9.5 months old - when did they start? Or did they skip it all together and just start walking?

    Thanks!

My son started crawling after he turned 10 months (probably a week later, it was after Halloween). We were worried that he really hadn't but he is on the go now.

My DS, Nikola, started crawling at 9.5 months. He was born at 38w 1d, so was considered FT. He still is not walking. My DH and his sister both began crawling and walking a little later (DH didn't walk until 15 months). HTH :) .

Lily crawled at 8 months and walked at 11 months.

Grace crawled at 13.5 months and walked at 20 months.

Olivia was full-term (38.5 weeks) and she's 8.5 months old. She's not crawling yet. She rolls everywhere, or scoots on her butt, but that's about the extent of it. I can't remember exactly, but the twins were around 8.5 months when they started crawling (but for them that was 7 months adjusted age). Olivia is considerably bigger than they were at this point though. She's over 23 lbs. at 8.5 months (the twins were 19 and 21 lbs at one year...lol), so I think she's having trouble getting her big belly and butt off he ground...lol!!!

I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you. There is a large range of when babies start crawling. Most will tell you anywhere from 6-10 months is considered "normal." Some kids don't even crawl, they just start cruising and walking!

My boys crawled at 10 and 10 1/2 months (actual age) and now at over 15m only one is taking some tentative steps. I wouldn't worry, they may never crawl and just go to walking!

    Good Luck

    Thanks Everyone!

Finley is getting closer and closer to crawling on all 4's. Sullivan really shows no interest at all!

Well, unless you count scooting backwards on their tummies - they do that quite well, all around the house. :)

My guys are very close in age to your boys, and only one of mine crawls. Ben started just a couple of weeks ago (just before hitting the 10 month mark), and he is now SO fast!! He has also started pulling up, 'sitting' on his knees, sitting more, and crawling up a step... all within the past 2 weeks! Before that, he rolled/dragged/scooted everyplace for at least 2 months.

AJ still isn't crawling. He gets up on all fours and rocks. He pushes himself backwards (and gets stuck under things). He does the army-style drag. He wants to crawl, but just hasn't made the connection yet!

My DD started army-dragging at only 9 months, and didn't develop a "normal" crawl until the one-year mark. She didn't really walk on her own until 15 months. So, at least I can see a pattern - my kids are slow at gross motor milestones - and that makes me less worried about the boys.

I generally follow the "only worry if they aren't walking by 18 months" rule. However, if AJ isn't crawling by one year, I may talk to the ped about whether or not some EI is needed!

One of my girls didnt crawl until she was 11.5mo old. She showed NO interest at all, she was perfectly content rolling everywhere.

My 2 were 32 weekers and crawled at 11 months (walked at 14) and 12 or so (walked at 17 1/2). It was an army crawl for a longggg time and one never really got past the army stage before she walked.

My girls were 9.5 and 10.5 months old when they crawled. They really didn't do any movement before that, not even scooting on the bottom. For both of them, one day they just got up on all fours and then were crawling a month later.
