My mom always told us you don't get sinuses til you're a teenager......but then she also thinks morning sickness is a sign of something going wrong. <_<

DS is sick; he was fine the other night when we put him to bed & about 10 pm he woke up, coughing and choking to the point that really scared me. He puked up big gobs of snot. (sorry; it's gross) It came out of the blue & really fast! So he's been coughing, rattly chest & really runny nose. But today & yesterday he's been crying & saying his "eye" hurts. I'm wondering - is it possible he's actually got a sinus infection? Should I give him some Motrin? He wanted a bandaid for his eye, poor guy.

Definitely sounds like a sinus infection. I'd get him to the pedi quick for some antibiotics.

Aw, poor little guy! Being on the receiving end of sinus headaches often (too often!), that stinks. Definitely try the motrin for him (that'll help relieve inflammation better than tylenol too).

But yes, little ones have sinuses. But your mom is right too, some don't develop until teen years, others are present at birth.

Here's a nice link: About Sinuses

You got me curious I had to go peek around!

If he doesn't feel better in a day or so, I'd probably call the doc :(

    Yes!!!

One of my DDs has had 2 sinus infections already.....they run on my side of the family. the signs were--rubbing her eyes, patting her cheeks, thick yellow discharge, fever, cough....all cold like, but the fever was a give away.

    Hope he feels better soon!

yep, and because they are small, they often back up and ooze pus out the tear ducts. I found that out when I took my boys to the doctor because yellow-green gunk was oozing out of their eyes :(

Yes - my daughter was just diagnosed with acute sinistus. She had to go on antibiotics to kill the infection and an anti-inflammatory one.

They say she is prone to it because her dad suffers with it.
